Talking of Walsall...
Frankie Knight?
Saw him the other week at Broadway. Never ages a day.
Does he still play as tight as ever?
You'd think there were 12 aces in the deck, the amount of time Frankie would wait to see them.

Folded all night and bust when his aces were cracked.
Think that qualifies.

There was another Paul too.
Little bald fella, very friendly.
Paul Hill maybe?
Was that the fella who mostly frequented J10, Walsall, usually with Pete the ex-safebreaker?
That rings a bell. Not seen Paul since Pete passed away.
What was the surname of Pete?
King?

Ahh yes, Paul King, from Northampton.
Another interesting character, in so many ways. Think he "ran the doors" in the Northampton clubs. And there's a lot more to being a club doorman than the name suggests.

That's the fella!
One of those overly friendly guys. Acted like he'd known you for years, but had only ever talked twice.
Probably fine, but never know how to deal with people like that.

ha ha Frankie was in the hand the first time I ever saw someone fold KK preflop. Frankie 4 bet and the other guy sent his face up kings flying into the muck at the speed of light. Aces were tabled of course.

A google image search of "Paul Smart Poker" provided lots of pictures of motorcycles and one of Paul Jackson.
No help, can't place the fella. Impressive resume of results from Walsall, DTD and the Broadway though.

Still in Amsterdam. We are hours (well, an hour) in front of you over here.
Contemplating playing the €750 tournament today.
Although my record of playing side events after busting the main is absolutely abject would probably just be flushing a monkey down the toilet.
Might go to the Van Gogh museum instead.
Or stay in the hotel and watch Ascot and Haydock...........
Mrs Long and I went to Amsterdam last month for a long weekend. Now I'm as philistine as they come when it comes to art but Mrs Long wanted to go so we did the Rijks and the Van Gogh.
The Rijks was fantastic but the Van Gogh blew me away. Doesn't start painting until he is 27, suicide at 38 and paints thousands of pictures. There was a joint exhibition, don't know if it's still on, comparing his work and life with Edvard Munch - and they have The Scream on display. Felt privileged to see such an iconic picture.
The queue was about 45 minutes outside in the cold when we went - worth every second.

A "joint" exhibition in Amsterdam, sounds appropriate...

Had my first ever hendon mob cash heads up v Paul King at Broadway. Fuck me that seems a long time ago. Broadway used to run festivals in those days. Always remember being on his table at dtd when he backed the 100/1 winner of the national mon mone or whatever it was called. Always seemed a total luck box to me. Nice guy though at the tables.
