looks like shaw is gone with every paper and website in the country claiming he is in manchester for a medical
price is ranging between 30 and 34 million which will make him the most expensive teenager in the GB
koeman was quoted as saying he wants 40 million doubt he will get that but hoping its nearer the 34 million
and hoping its not full of add on and we get some cash to buy players with

Yeh tbh I hope they price United out too cos Shaw is hugely over rated

It's a lot of money, but he's a very good talent.

Shaw deal looks a great bit of business for Saints. As pleased as you can be seeing a player of his quality leaving. Lots of money to reinvest

When you say reinvest, you probably mean pay off debts?

Southampton will spend > 50 million this summer. A journalist linked to saints whose news pieces I respect has said the club will be close to break even net on transfer spend this summer. Expect 6+ players to come in.

+ 70 million for shaw, lallana, lambert and lovren is good business for southampton. Can feel happy that those deals are decent money wise in a marketplace where keeping ambitious players is impossible when bigger clubs come calling.

Regardless of any transfers, southamptons finances are sound. We owe a bit for transfers along with every club in the league as that's just the way modern deals are structured.

Saints have two outstanding areas of 'debt'

The first is around £15m of staged payments for previous transfers

And the second is the cost of the new academy/training facility, which has been quoted around £30m

Neither of these have forced the exits from St Mary's.  Both the Shaw and Lallana deals were done prior to the World Cup

I think Mark's post about a break even transfer window is not that far off how it will breakdown.

Pretty sure Lovren will go, and it won't take a huge club to turn Schneiderlin's head.

Schneiderlin to arsenal looks all set for as soon as France get knocked out I am not liking this as arsenal are not known for splashing big money and no fee has been mentioned yet

Dennis Diamond Its sad that all Saints fans, myself included do not see a long term positive from this news. Saints have to convince these young stars that SFC is the future otherwise club does not have one above mid table in Premier league. Good luck to them anyway.

Ian Scott I wonder what clubs they'll play for? We used to wait until they were at least 20 before we sold them. Now, we are selling them at 18. The problem is that the clubs we sell them to get the benefit of their best years, then sell them for a huge profit, as Spurs did with Bale.
