Think Southampton have done really well in terms of the fees they have received.  Just hope they don't simply overpay on bog average premier league players and waste it.  Would seem a bit pointless if they did that?

Still don't think it is impossible for another club to get fourth.  Everton had a decent shot at it this year.  Need to back it up for a couple of years though to break the stranglehold, and make sure that whoever misses out, gets into a financial tailspin and has to cut their cloth accordingly.  Very hard though.

Agree with posters about the cups.  I don't know why all premier league clubs don't absolutely go for the cups.  If you finish 15th for the next 100 years, and always lose in the cup without trying, surely at some point the fans won't bother watching the utter mediocrity.

What a joke when Alladyce fielded the youth team at Forest this year and lost 5-0.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12040/9367962/transfer-news-southampton-agree-fee-for-fc-twente-winger-dusan-tadic

from what i heard he is a perfect replacement for lallanna although i have never seen him play

reports are also coming in that pelle is close to be agreed too he has a better scoring record than lambert obvioulsy not in such a strong league

and we are competing with newcastle for Virgil van Dijk but celtic are saying he isnt for sale unless crazy money comes in
with the player saying he wants to play in the EPL lets see if celtic can do a better job of keeping there talent
in a way i want celtic to be able to keep him but i would like him at st marys and not playing aberdeen with celtic

FFS lovern believes the saints told him we were aiming for ECL football with the sell off of our assets he doesn't now believe it to be true so is going on strike if he doesn't get a 20 mill move to Liverpool

If Lovren goes, not sure I can remember a team selling so many key 1st team players in one go!  Shaw, Lallana, Lambert, Lovren.

ok was looking on the TfT fred today about which team was going to guy in the most players during the close season and the 16-1 on the saints look huge

looking at the first team squad currently we have 22 players in the first team squad which seems a fair number maybe 2-3 shy i always think 25 is a healthy number
so lets say saints need 3 players to get squad upto opitmium
but in that squad is 4 players 19 or under
James Ward-Prowse
Calum Chambers
Harrison Reed
Sam Gallagher
players under 20 shouldnt really count in that 25 man squad they are really an addition there wages aer much lower
and they should be used gradually integrating into the team (not all of them are like shaw) so lets take down the squad to 18 meaning ideally we are looking at
getting in 7 new players

but wait in that 18 we have
Pablo Osvaldo
Morgan Schneiderlin
Dejan Lovren
Billy Sharp
all 4 are likely to leave sharp just hasnt the quailty for EPL and if a permanent team cant be found will find himself out on loan again

this take our squad down to 14 players meaning we are very likely going to need to buy in between 7 and 11 players to make a full squad

16-1 is HUGE

looks like lovern is finally going to leave after a transfer bid believed to be in the range of 16-25 million has been accepted

i cant see it being on the low end of that range as saints already turned down 20 million
also koeman has also stated today that he wont go unless a top price is met
