No idea how we lose to a United side that poor. Clueless tactically considering we were so depleted.

Lots of positives, nothing not to believe in Iron.

Was always going to happen iron. They'll fall away now

we have 0pts this season from teams that finished above us last year but only dropped 4 (i think off top of my head) to the rest

i dont think we are going to fall away but will likely finish where i expected all along fighting for 8/9 with newcastle anything better with be a foresyth

has gardos had a look in yet i know he hasnt started in the league but has he come off the bench or played in the cup?

we are short on depth but that was always the case last season too
and it is hurting this season that the players are missing during the games against the bigger teams

"In the second half we were better. But I think Southampton played better than Manchester United yet we were the lucky guys."

Real rubbish this, barely created anything meaningful at Burnley and nothing so far tonight.

Thought we would of put out a stronger team tonight no tadic or pelle we had to aim for a cup this season imho.

Good to see Morgan and jwp both back and starting though

It is ridiculous teams like Southampton put out weak teams for the League Cup.

They aren't going to be relegated and they aren't going to make Europe.

What is the point of their existence if they don't try and win a cup?

Pelle was suspended. We rested two players last night. Tadic and Alderweireld.

I wouldn’t have given Tadic more than 5 out of 10 for the last 4 games so have no issue with him being rested/dropped. Gardos should have been perfectly capable of filling in for Alderweireld.

The rest of the team was a complete first team that would have been the same for Everton before Wanayama and Schneiderlin got suspended. I wonder whether those two fancied a rest, their bookings were cynical and stupid. Mane is also a walking red card, should have got a straight red against United and tried his hardest to get sent off last night.

Shane Long cannot lead the line but we knew that before we signed him. Tough 4 weeks coming up.

Last season was more criminal.  FA Cup played the reserves from memory against Sunderland (?) when top 10 in the league assured.  I get West Ham doing it last year when they are in a relegation battle to be fair.

back to back wins including the win vs everton
means the only teams we have dropped points to that finished below us last season are the loss at burnley
and the draws with WBA and villa

3 games coming up where we are not favourite and likely by the time we play newcastle away we could be underdogs
thats if we fail to pick up points but i am not worried about the next 3 games if we get something we get something
aslong as we keep performing well and picking up point in games against smaller clubs we will finish in a nice position
although it would be nice if we can get something against bigger clubs

Arsenal look a big price at 7/4 today.

Will be interesting to see how we cope without Schneiderlin again and no Clyne. James Ward-Prowse coming back has made a big difference the last few games.

Have bet Arsenal but can't wait for the game - think it will be a cracker!
