It is looking increasingly likely that our new manager will be Claude Puel.

This is a good read highlighting his achievements with Nice.

Ticks all the boxes. Would expect he has been on the radar for a few years as a potential manager.

Mane will almost certainly leave for a fee north of £30 million. Good business. His goals will need replacing though. In a different position, Nathan Redmond is completing a medical today - £11 million.

Think you may be disappointed with Redmond , promises much but didn't get the nickname Row-Z-mond  by accident.

Good news for Stoke that you are signing Redmond.  Was dreading Stoke signing him.  Looks massively over rated to me.  Agree with Booder.

Why don't Liverpool just sign the Saints scouting team instead of signing their players summer after summer?

Great news Eric black appointed asst manager, and lesser news some French guy appointed manager

A good French guy, strong European pedigree, proven work with youngsters, knows how to deal with big players, good links in the game, tactical fit.

Ticks lots of boxes, looks a good choice on paper. Doesn't have the Premier League experience of Pellegrini but brings a lot to the table.

We are one of many clubs that have made proposals to Ben Arfa. I wonder whether Puel can have some influence their. Expecting to see 3 or 4 new faces now.

36 million for Mane is a lot of money but trying to establish value in the Premier league is impossible now. We have done very well selling players over the last few years. There is no shame in being a selling club. We can show a clear route to bigger things that many of the other sides competing for similar players cannot. That is why we secured Van Dijk when a number of other clubs were interested.

Players back in training next week.

Eric Black is lolbad gets managers sacked for fun, attempts to take over and it ends in a disaster.  He's like a sheep pumpingTommy Craig.  If Eric has any say on team affairs, transfers or tactics Southampton could be prime candidates for relegation.

Good money for a 31 year old.

very good deal seeing he only has 12 months let to run, and good luck to him had 2 good seasons with us.
he hasnt asked to move and saints didnt want to give him an extension at present so good for both parties
£6 million a season must be a massive pay rise for Pelle

I don't support a PL club but Southampton are, by a distance, my favourite club as a neutral. You're definitely the best team at operating a 'moneyball' setup. With apologies to Tighty I think, overall, if clubs followed the Southampton model they'd have more success in the long term than  trying to build a team in the Leicester mould (one that plays like them, rather than off the field stuff).

Really hope The Saints have another great season.
