Leafletted parents outside schools in many elections myself and I'm sure I've seen politicians on TV in schools all thru this election too.

Maybe local authorities ban this type of thing for the fun of it then?

What is interesting though is that only a few days ago SNP activists in a local office/shop were physically attacked but this never got any MSM attention.

If it didn't happen in the street in front of reporters and TV cameras (like this incident) then is it any mystery it didn't turn up on the news?

Not really because most of what appears in the news doesn't just happen in front of journalists and TV cameras.  Perhaps the next question should be why were the media attending this event in the frst place?

because in an election campaign teams from all the tv channels and newspapers follow leaders round each day? every event is covered. a big set piece rally like this especially

i think murphy did exceptionally well to react as little as he did.

they may not be nationalists, the loonies, but a) the assumption is they are and b) it reflects terribly on Scottish politics. all the quisling/scum stuff is pathetic

as Izzard said after "i hate the tories, but at least they behave like humans"

This wasnt anything like a big set piece rally, it was a couple of dozen bussed in Labour activists, some press and media, Jim Murphy, Eddie Izzard and a handful of protestors who don't even represent the SNP.
The one guy shown shouting at Murphy is well known for antics like this, he is an absolute nutter but when you hold one of these events in a public place don't be surprised if there is someone there who disagrees with you and gives you a bit back. Murphy and McTernan have previous for this kind of stage managed nonsense, Murphy is basically a bully who likes to talk over and shout at anyone who disagreeS with him but flounces off when he isn't getting his own way and tries to play the victim.

This is just really desperate stuff from SLAB but not unsurprising, remember the SNP would have nothing to gain from this but Murphy absolutely would.

I had a google, the consensus seems to be schools are a good place to find people in one place and try and influence them - but that it should be done while parents are waiting and that when pupils start coming out that's the time to stop.

They´ll need the ashamed/shy tory factor to be massive to get anywhere near. Would be hilarious if they then needed Carswell and Farage to get over the line :-)

ageree with your two reasons on why it's hard to turn off taps Tighty, but surely they also knew this, and by their own benchmarks they aren't even halfway to where they said they would be.

Agree

a) politicians of all parties over-promise and under-deliver (at least previously they tried to give detail this time they haven't)

b) the libdems were an effective break on the amount of and the speed of deficit reduction. big dfifference between promising in anticipation of majority government then having to fulfill it in a coalition

c) in some instances its politically impossible to do them even mid-parliament

per b) what about the targets they set in June 2010? nowhere near those, either.

A very good blog by Derek Bateman on todays shenanigans at St Enoch.

Derek is probably one of the most balanced writers in pro-indy circles.

What do you imagine is going to happen if the bookies are correct and we land a labour coalition?

Alex Salmond deputy pm  Smiley

Seriously though will be really interesting, can't see a Labour / SNP coalition working out.

And really telling the Lib Dem's are pretty much going to be decimated.
