Just a bit, it was extraordinary, and really quite exciting.

That view from an aircraft was exactly what we could see at ground level, a clearly defined area of storm, relentlessly approaching at 15 mph.

The National Weather Centre sent text messages to everyone warning of imminent flash floods.

I sent some links back to England showing the after effects, and flooding across Vegas, including The Strip. Will look them out tomorrow and post them if time permits.

As a positive, some forest fires had been burning up in Spring Mountains for several days, so at least they were suitably doused.

For completeness, that photograph was taken from a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700.

Records fell today on the final Day 1 of the 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event

3,963 players bought in for a shot at being this year's Champion.

This is the largest single flight in Main Event history, and it means that a total of 6,420 players have entered the Main Event. There were 2,765 who bagged chips tonight.

Over the course of all three starting flights, 4,389 players advance to Day 2.
