On Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn’s attack lines show why defeat is certain for Theresa May, says Maguire. But they don’t answer the question of where Labour would, or could, go next.

The real politics of Brexit in the country now falls three ways:

people who want out as a matter of principle;

an overlooked and large demographic who just want an end to all the noise (who May is playing to);

and people who (think they) know it's all very bad news.

Who wins is still very uncertain i think, especially when it fails to get through parliament

So this is good

An informed look at what happens after deal is voted down

https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/elections/2018/11/theresa-may-s-deal-isn-t-going-pass-so-what-s-going-happen

Clearly a Labour motion of no-confidence more likely and an ERG one to depose May less so

If Parliament can't pass anything and effectively vetoes no deal, Still think May might call a referendum on her deal.

The Brexit deal hasn’t answered the (Northern) Irish question:

Theresa May’s deal cannot pass parliament, and no Conservative leader can secure a better one,

Dunt

you won't read much that is more withering than this

"May's Brexit deal is a humiliation for Britain"

http://www.politics.co.uk/blogs/2018/11/23/may-s-brexit-deal-is-a-humiliation-for-britain

perversely given the red lines she had to work with: respect referendum, no freedom of movement and no hard irish border, i think what she has brought back is miraculous

still terrible, but miraculous terrible

Raab C Brexit on the today programme this morning was persuaded by robinson to admit that he wold prefer to remain than take the deal!

A Tory minister to politico's editor:

“Well, it’s lose lose isn’t it. But that’s Brexit. The only way this might work is if everyone loses. That’s it isn’t it. We all have to lose for this to happen. That’s the reality. It’s lose lose.”

just dumping quotes i see

"the attempt to produce a compromise between Brexit and no-Brexit increasingly feels like an attempt to compromise between atheism and religion"

"The vote for Brexit marked the first occasion when a majority of those outside of parliament formally asked for something that a majority of those inside parliament did not want. It was never going to end well."

Is there going to be a snap general election? Lib Dems think so.

In an email sent to members today, they say they're officially preparing for an imminent election and have made "Flying Start" campaign kits for members.

First thing that came to mind was David Steel’s “Go back to your consistencies and prepare for Government” speech.

She didn't have to work with no freedom of movement.  She chose to do that within her red lines, along with leaving the single market.

Neither were part of the referendum vote, and the fact that all Leave votes were interpreted as insisting on this is one of the fundamental causes of the disastrous withdrawal negotiations, along with the decision to call a General Election to secure a workable majority.

Spain/Gibraltar apart, the EU 27 countries are proving harder line than Barnier..

Theresa May's frantic bid to save Brexit deal as Merkel threatens to ditch summit

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/theresa-mays-frantic-bid-save-13625220

It is a challenge to get those 27 countries to agree to anything!!!

Which is one of the reasons why I'm an idiot.
