Senior figures like Tom Watson are pushing for a People's Vote behind the scenes. However, Corbyn's office believes it would split the party and torpedo their election chances. People's Vote figures don't expect Corbyn to get on board anytime soon, either.

Corbyn's office has done private polling in marginal seats suggesting that to do so would trigger a backlash, not win new support

It’s crunch time for Labour. Empty posturing on Brexit will no longer do

Under Jeremy Corbyn, the party has evaded tough choices. Next week will trigger an ordeal for which it has not prepared

says Jonathan Freedland

Typical politicians, always promising jams tomorrow.

On the other hand...

The Port Operators point out that Dover handles only 6% of port volumes and that the forecast for doom may be overdone.

it may be and was presented as a worst case

this made me chuckle

"In a report setting out Kent County Council's preparations for a no-deal Brexit, it was revealed the government has increased its no-deal planning scenario from three to six months of disruption.

"The rationale for this has not been provided by government," the document, seen by Sky News, added. "

Last car I bought the seller refused my offer and said his price was the lowest he would go

I said fair enough and started to leave

He then called me back and offered a lower price

At the time I didn’t realise this process was “magical”

because of course such simplistic analogies are entirely representative of a situation where the EU won't move its red lines and neither can we, in large part because to do so jeopardises the good friday agreement and with it (potentially) Irish peace, which is more important than any Brexit outcome.

This is a brutal piece by our friend Mr Dunt, superbly written and with a lot of understanding of how we got to the mess we are in.

"Theresa May is strategically inept, tactically misguided, presentationally catastrophic, and promoting a deal with nothing to recommend it, but apart from that she's doing terribly well"

Today’s Times leader: With no enthusiasm, The Times backs Mrs May’s Brexit deal. But if parliament rejects it, a second referendum would be the least bad option.

Key Cabinet Ministers are urging May to find a way to duck the vote on Tuesday. They fear that if it goes ahead, she’ll lose by such a margin that it’ll capsize the government

"I think you would mess it all up for us, the way you have messed it all up for yourselves."

Heidi Nordby Lunde, president of Norway's European Movement, is sceptical about calls for the UK to strike a Norway-style deal with the EU.

it was a very candid interview

Apologies, my analogy was illustrating the rich and beautiful palette of adjectives that Remain have utilised throughout the process. It's been illuminating and gorgeous.

Not sure why May is getting such a hard time when the negotiator we needed from the start was Paul Daniels.

In fact I can see Paul standing up in parliament to present the magical deal he pulled out of a top hat now...

The most valuable commodity we have in life is time

Unlike little cuckoo I don’t invest significant amounts of time chasing certain members around the forum responding to posts that I regard as valueless. Especially indulging in weird anger-less rants, whatever they are.

I think your point that it’s a strange thing for me to do has some merit. I do consider not doing it.

When I say your posts have no value, I suppose what I mean is that they can safely be ignored by anyone with any knowledge of the matters at hand. The biggest problem politics faces atm though is misinformation, you are a misinformation machine. It doesn’t need many people to think what you say has merit before it really is a problem.
