I cannot for the life of me understand why Theresa May didn't call a general election before triggering A50.
She isn't allowed under the fixed term parliaments act. I think she would need Labour support to call one early. |

It would clearly be an advantage to force the government to vote that it had no confidence in itself, if it wanted an election. |
