So Corbyn beats eagle. Then what? 172 Labour mps form a new party?

With no major T U backing good luck with that strategy for them.
ok, so what do they do? Taking eagle against a pro Corbyn momentum membership is like taking a fork to a gunfight.

What's next for Labour then? Is there some sort of predictable timeline with what happens next now that Eagles has officially announced she is going for it?

If Corbyn gets blocked by NEC Tuesday and it gets ratified after legal action that he needs 51 nominations , I envisage other candidates come forward and Eagle will disappear. If Corbyn gets on the ballot, see it as Eagle vs Corbyn and a bloody mess until September.

A bloody mess?

I'm stating the obvious I know, but British politics are a terrible mess at the moment. It's like watching a huge multi car pile up in slow motion.
it is but t may has a nice start. All leadership opponents fall over one by one and no worthwhile parliamentary opposition for a while yet.

I'm amazed that she is allowed to become PM unopposed and unelected.

I knew I should have had a crack at it.

I might rejoin Labour to vote for JC.

The sooner we move to PR the better.

Hows it work with this leadership race now then? I know when Corbyn got elected four people ran in total, but do they whittle down to two in these circumstances? The rest of the Labour party have 0 chance of beating him if more than two people run against him and divide the vote.

I know little about politics, but from the outside, it appears that politics has been in a terrible mess for a while, and the fallout from this may be something better.
The current party system is something of a cartel (not sure if that's the right word), and so many people auto vote the same way always, that it is difficult to break it.

Wouldn't be so bad if each party was clear in it's policies and values, and distinct, but that's obviously not the case.

Corbyn will win because about 100,000 Tories will join the party for £3 and vote for him

They have just announced a six month membership freeze and two days from now where you can join for 25 quid. Corbyn a favourite to win again nonetheless

STV, you vote "1" "2" "3" etc and if your first choice finishes last their second preferences are redistributed to the remaining candidates

If you joined Labour after 12 February 2016, you will *NOT* get a vote in the Labour Leadership Election, unless you pay £25 and register

The sting in the tail !?

if true, good luck explaining that one to the membership.

I can't see too many wanting to stump up 25 notes to vote for eagle. Who it actually favours is currently being worked out. Ladbrokes have installed Corbyn 1/3 fave.
