Havent we yet realised these polls mean jack yet?

You can continue to make excuses but they have been pretty off for the last 2 big events.

the 2015 GE polls had a methodology flaw, since addressed

the online polls for the EUref were largely correct (predicted leave and one one the day got it spot on), phone polls much less so

polls paint an interesting snapshot, no one is claiming that they are 100% gospel at any time. at the same time you won't see too many 10-15% a v b leads or 35%+ leader a v b category leads in many polls ever

Brown had a honeymoon poll for six months after his succession in 2007, which meant little come 2010 might expect May to have similar, but a lot can happen before 2020

in that she only has a majority of 12 and Corbyn appears broadly un popular outside his core base of previous non voters, you might think this would be a factor she'd consider in whether to try to get a vote for an early election

FWIW, a 10% lead on the new boundaries is a conservative majority of 120

Interesting that Eagle and Smith score lower than Corbyn, looks like the "alternative" to him hasn't really surfaced, yet.

i agree

did you watch marr this morning?

had eagle and smith on, smith came across far better but neither had much calibre

the top labour politicians (in terms of braod appeal to the marginal voter, i would argue) like dan jarvis, keir starmer etc are not currently likely to be elected by the labour membership and aren't on the leadership ballot paper of course!

Just watched it. In the battle of the non entities he came off better, odd he said he'd serve under JC if JC wins again but he resigned from the shadow cabinet? She was all over the place reduced to saying "I'm a woman, I'm working class" etc . Got a feeling it might just be Smith vs JC after hustings before PLP Monday.

Angela Easgle is a car crash, incompetent beyond belief.  I'm sure I read on here but if not I read somewhere clearly she is a stoodge put up to see if Corbyn had automatic right to be on the ballot before one of the snakes in the long grass decided to stand against JC. She's been played, if she doesn't know it she is more stupid than I had originally thought.  I suppose she will get a nice pension after deselection.

I think the easiest prediction on the labour ballot £25 two day registration is that the website will crash within 2 hours.

Nothing worse than a staged, awkward moment where a politician is forced into a piece of popular culture he or she clearly can neither understand nor abide.

Hard not to love the deadpan way Corbyn handles this and the gloriously biting last line.

Boris would have probably ran into oncoming traffic and caused two cars to skid into a wall to avoid him.

going to help the markets

ARM Holdings, one of the UK's biggest technology companies, is set to announce it is being bought by Japan's Softbank for £24bn ($32bn).

The board of ARM is expected to recommend shareholders accept the offer - close to a 50% premium on its closing market value of £16.8bn on Friday.
