a fascinating read on why labour surprisingly lost the mosborough/sheffield election last thursday

It's amazing to think Lib Dem's got 45.6% of the vote. Miraculous in fact.

In Sheffield, other than Hallam constituency where I live, it's always a foregone conclusion that Labour will win.

Just shows how Labour is in trouble even in strongholds in north of England.

The comments after the article are more revealing, non local candidate, anti Corbyn Pro Owen Smith former Lib Dem seat, etc etc

The comments after the article are more revealing as to why the party is in complete and utter disarray.  Fundamentally split in opinion, and with no realistic prospect that those divisions can in any way be reconciled once the leadership election is out of the way.

Truly depressing reading if you don't like Tory governments.

David Davis: Brexit may be “the most complicated negotiation of all time.  By comparison, Schleswig-Holstein is an O-Level question."

the old Palmerston quote about S-H was "Only 3 people know what it is about: one's dead, the second has gone mad and the third is me, who has forgotten"

Cameron.

Lost an election he should have won in 2010.

Won an election he should have lost in 2015.

Lost a referendum he should have won on 2016.

He was on course to be replaced as leader in 2010 until Clegg made his fateful decision. Probably would have resigned his seat years ago in that case.

I'm sure the doom and gloom merchants will be all over it like a rash when/if the situation worsens.

Ireland tells Britain "no single market without freedom of movement"

http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-eu-ireland-idUKKCN11I0RI

Ireland is obviously massively affected by Brexit (and anything else that impacts the UK economy) and a successful UK economy is crucial for both countries. I was talking to a friend in the Irish Civil Service yesterday, who told me that they have already set up a Brexit Division, working on the effects for Ireland.

David Davis tried a charm offensive in Dublin last week https://brexit-home.co.uk/2016/09/08/speech-strengthening-uk-ireland-relations-ahead-of-eu-exit-negotiations/. It doesn't seem to have helped, judging by Tighty's link, but I think the Irish government is just talking tough - I can't see it has any real power in this matter, and is dependent on the EU to battle for it.

What is to be done about the thousands of pieces of European legislation in force in the UK, that will lapse once the European Communities Act is repealed? There are many elements that no-one would object to, such as anti-discrimination and employment equality. It would be a ginormous project to disentangle what you want and what you don't.

The exiters have objected vehemently against us being controlled by the EU Regulations, etc, so what is their solution?

Now their plan has been revealed - at the same time as repealing the European Communities Act, they want to pass legislation making all existing European Regs part of UK law.

Hahahahahahaha.
