no chance we'd win the 2nd world war with the generations that have come after that era.

You don't think we'd be star players in a World War?

as proven we're pretty good at controlling drones, but any kind of risk to us or requirement to get muddy or cold or do something for the greater good and no chance! there's some small glimmer of hope for once it gets to bayonets but that's about it.

I happen to really like Tim Farron and think he is a decent bloke.

But yeah I thought this too, I always do after that infamous 'today's the day to bury bad news' line from a PR person after 9/11.

He also used his persecution as a Christian as an excuse, which I actually agree he was unfairly run through the mill about compared to a lot of other MPs, but that was a long time ago relatively speaking.

I can imagine most politicians have such big egos that they would delay the announcement in order to get the front page?

FWIW I did think the same when I first heard it then just thought Farron just doesn't seem the type to bury bad news.  He has pretty much come across as somebody grappling with the contradictions caused by his faith throughout.

The other thing about Farron I found weird was if you asked me to pick out someone who was living a lie - I  always assumed he was gay - until the last campaign threw up his Christian beliefs.

If today is genuine then fair play to him for sticking to his convictions and beliefs.  So many more politicians could learn from that.

I am not religious at all, I don't have loads of gay mates or anything, its not my cuppa tea but I try to live and let live and as long as your not bothering me I say let it be.  In this day and age though when so many more people straight, gay, indifferent I can't understand why it's so much of an issue for religion.

Just watched "Jo Cox: Death of an MP"

Powerful television.

If there were more people like Jo and Brendan Cox in this world, it would be a much better place.

RIP.

What do we think of Labour's shadow cabinet changes?

Are we surprised about how few changes there have been, I don't know much about Lesley Laird the new Shadow Scottish Secretary.

Owen Smith could be a good appointment for Shadow Northern Ireland Sec.

I genuinley thought we'd see more change though and had hoped that Corbyn would have really got rid of a few who were clearly not up to the job,  most notably Diane Abbot.

I thought Barry Gardiner might have got a better brief.

I never expected him to make the change but taking McDonnell from Shadow Chancellor and giving him a different role could have been a masterstroke for electioneering purposes.

Missed a trick imo, hes humbled his MPs and it was time to bring the talent back. Home secretary is the big carrot he has left, but he cant give it out as Abbott because shes ill wouldnt play too well with the party of the unions. Kind of hamstrung by their own tactic there.

I guess I don't have any facts to support it but that must be the most incredible swing ever, ever in the space of just a few weeks.

During the Labour leadership elections I was pretty convinced Labour needed Corbyn, Momentum etc to drag them Left and present some kind of genuine alternative philosophy to the Tories. I thought his 'job' was similar (albeit in a different political direction) to the role Kinnock played in paving the way to a more centrist party winning power all those years ago. But, never really thought he could be the one to take Labour into power again.

He could be a few Tory mis-steps away from power now and who, with the evidence of the last 12 months, could think the Tories are smart enough to avoid those mis-steps.

Just noticed after all that, Jezza is only uo to 0 on the popularity stakes.  Having read the internet I assumed he was on +100.
