Ok, question and decision time folks...

The £100 league only has 4 runners so far. We may get a few late entrants and take it up to 6 or more, so we can pay 2 prizes. With 4 runners, it will be winner takes all.

Dazzler and I have had requests to join the £100 league from some non blondes but so far we have not allowed it. What are the thoughts on making the £100 an open event? A couple of people from 2+2 should join if we allow it.

We could cancel the £100 and allow those players already entered to select a new league.

If you know people that are dithering on entering and they will want into the £100 then please chivvy them along.

Thoughts please...

think the 4 of you in the £100 league should chat amongst yourself if you want to accept 2+2 and others
i would have no problem with that, wouldnt be keen on them entering the fun league or the smaller leagues where
the fun managers are playing

Fwiw I'm totally in favour of making the £100 an Open event, otherwise we're not going to get the numbers.

If the hundred is an open league does that mean we can still enter 2 of remaining 3 classic leagues? If yes, I'll go for the £25. If not, I'll drop out of £100 league and just enter the 25 & 50 if that's ok?

Cheers

Ok, quick decision made on this.

The £100 league is now 'open'. We need to boost numbers and we do reserve the right to refuse entry though under certain circumstances.  The Dazzler has got a couple of punters from 2+2 to enter to boost numbers. They are poker players and gamblers, NOT fpl sharks.

This means that anyone that has entered the £100, can choose to enter 1 further league, upon payment of their entry, if they want to.  The Dazzler has said he will just stay in the 2 leagues though (50 & 100).

Anyone who is not happy with that decision, please let me know and I would be happy to send back their entry or allow them to move leagues.

I imagine most people will just stay where they are and can't imagine many of the 5 X £100 pool will want to join further leagues.

Thanks for the reply. Don't want this to come across as angling or anything - just really didn't think about field size when I joined, with likely 'winner takes all'. So if option is there for 1 extra league, I'd be happy to keep donating to The Dazzler in the £100.

Anyway - I know you've now said it's cool but I'll leave it a while before I join the £25 to see if any objections here first.

Only the £100 as that is open to punters. The other leagues are blondes only.

If you get him to send to me for the £100 on Stars then fine.

Even though im not baller enough i do think having an open £100 is a good idea for the forum, this competition is run so well and if it can add a few member's that may stick around and punt in some of the other competitions it all add's to the fun.

i was going to PM the dazzler but i will ask here

what resources are best to use to analyse value players/strategies etc etc?

maybe people don't want to share, but is there a fantasy analysis industry developing in the UK as there is in the US?

Fantasy Football Scout is the best site out there;
http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/
You can just use the free stuff site but if you pay £12.50, you get all the stats. And there is a huge amount of them.
There was some Australian guy who wrote and article on there last year about how he finished in the top 1K players (out of 3 milion) without ever having watched a football match in his life. He didn't know who the players were or even the teams names when he started. He just followed the numbers.

This is also this blog by the 2nd ranked player in the World Hall of Fame, Nick Cummings, aka Triggerlips;

Also if anybody wants to ask any questions on any players here, I'll give my opinion.
Of course people never do. At the start of every season, people hide their team from others in the mistaken belief that it's awesome, when it's most probably utterly terrible.

Here's one tip.
If you don't have Rooney, your team is terrible.
Seriously. He's the 1st player every decent player has in his team this season. It's universally accepted.
Start with him and build from there.

ok will ask some stupid questions

you are paying £7m for a top defender from say Arsenal/Chelsea that in previous years would be 150-175 points worth if they stay fit

by having one of these, if not two, you are compromising quality point scoring somewhere else in the team

do people tend to over-pick these top defenders when they don't need to? you can player select by spotting parsimonious defences (southampton last year), pick £5m defenders and save yourself a few million for the front seven?
