18th Aug 2020 28kg x 10, 32kg x 10, 34kg x 10

25th Aug 2020 32kg x 10, 36kg x 10, 36kg x 10

1st Sept 2020 36kg x 10, 40kg x 10, 40kg x 10

8th Sept 2020 38kg x 10, 42kg x 10, 36kg x 8

That was tough but still maintain weekly progress. 42kg was pretty much max'd out and the shoulder was getting a bit narky so dropped back for the last set. Good job I did because 8 reps was absolute failure so I can safely say I worked hard.

If the shoulder is okay I have a feeling 44kg should be there next week but then I think we might have a bit of a slow down towards 50kg. I could probably do them now for a few reps but really want the full 10 if I can.

Turns out I really messed my shoulder up on Tuesday and it did it's thing where it slips slightly out of it's proper location. Physio has described it as 'going off track' before which is precisely how it feels.

Anyway I rang the physio and she's on holiday 'til Monday so I thought I was in for a rough ride and then on Wednesday I managed to pop it back myself Smiley

I know what she does to fix it so I just mimicked it in the gym using a resistance band. Sometimes it works, other times not but thankfully this time it slipped back where it belongs.

Still feels a little bit sore but I've managed to not miss a session and train at pretty much 100% on everything but back.

Bench tomorrow for a 5RM so maybe a chance of getting 120kg on the bar if all goes well.

Glad to hear you got it sorted, and good luck tomorrow.

I've not seen too much of what's going on as of next week, but hoping they aren't messing about with gyms?

Shoulder felt good today and managed to get up to 112.5kg for my 5 reps. There was a bit more there if I wanted it but I still have the last bit of soreness disappearing so played it sensible and backed off a touch. Volume work was at 80kg and I got all 18 reps out in one set which was a huge improvement on last week.

I've managed 122.5kg for 6 before and 130kg for 4 so still a fair bit below my peak but I'm very happy with it especially with the dodgy shoulder and no spotter of course. I think I was a few kgs heavier back then as well so all in all a very good day.

18th Aug 2020 28kg x 10, 32kg x 10, 34kg x 10

25th Aug 2020 32kg x 10, 36kg x 10, 36kg x 10

1st Sept 2020 36kg x 10, 40kg x 10, 40kg x 10

8th Sept 2020 38kg x 10, 42kg x 10, 36kg x 8

15th Sept 2020 36kg x 10, 44kg x 10, 38kg x 10

Shoulder wasn't feeling great but 44s moved absolutely fine. Felt really solid and I'm now feeling pretty confident about the 50s fairly soon.

The strength was there for quite a bit more I think so once I get the shoulder fixed it'll be interesting to see how far I can push this.

Injury update...

Finished last session of physio and knee is about 90% and im training pretty well.. PT keeps shouting at me trying to do too much too quick..... some light squats the other day felt a bit twingy on the knee.. but light deadlifts, cleans and lightish front squats felt ok... trying to rebuild fitness at the moment some nice sweaty sessions being churned out.. doing lots of bike weight combos example :

1KM bike followed by 10 70KG deadlifts for 5 rounds for time no rest..

so 5KM bike and 50 light deadlifts ..12.27 wasnt too bad

Feeling good and looking to be full tilt in a couple of weeks

According to a report in a cough, ahem 'newspaper' only 6% of gym members have returned since they reopened, and only one in ten plans on going back. That'll change the landscape a touch.

18th Aug 2020 28kg x 10, 32kg x 10, 34kg x 10

25th Aug 2020 32kg x 10, 36kg x 10, 36kg x 10

1st Sept 2020 36kg x 10, 40kg x 10, 40kg x 10

8th Sept 2020 38kg x 10, 42kg x 10, 36kg x 8

15th Sept 2020 36kg x 10, 44kg x 10, 38kg x 10

12nd Sept 2020 46kg x 10, 38kg x 10, 38kg x 10

Slightly different tactic this week after chatting through a few things with Harvey. Last week my last warm up at 36kg was really a working set which makes the top set much harder. This week I just warmed up with sets of 5 up to 40kg, in to top set at 46kg then a couple of back down working sets at 38kg which were still very tough.

Pretty close to a max at 46kg so I don't know how next week will go. I'll definitely try the 48s as I got my 10 this week but we're definitely in the potential to fail territory now.

Loving the linear progression.... Feels like being a newbie again Cheesy

I can guarantee this isn't the case at my gym.

It's definitely a bit quieter but I'd say it's around 80% of the normal numbers during the times I'm there

Everyone Active say that anyone attending needs to have the Test and Trace app installed and scan it when going into different rooms and that masks need to be worn in some areas. Not going to help trade and not sure that's the law but hey ho!

Wow. That sort of thing could really cost them in the long run.

I really don't understand why people use that place.

22nd Sept 2020 46kg x 10, 38kg x 10, 38kg x 10

29th Sept 2020 42kg x 5, 48kg x 10, 42kg x 8

Still going up so it's 50s next week all being well..... Not sure whether I'll hit the 10 but I can't see it being far off if I feel anything like this week.

First warm up at 24kg felt hard for some reason so I was a bit concerned but then it all got easier through to my top set. Last few reps were a bit of a grind but never really any danger of failing.

I put wrist wraps on for the 42kg warm up and the top set which I think helped a lot. Also I un-racked the 48s early which saved a bit of energy and made it much easier. All little lessons learnt ready for next week.

Final set at 42kg I felt a few shoulder niggles so called it a day and just counted final warm up as a working set.

Have to say I'm really happy with how these are going. Bench is still a way off where I was but these are making up for it nicely.

How's everyone else?
