We've lost another one!

Rob Porter has flown under the radar a bit, but he has been an important member of the Trump White House team, most recently assisting Stephen Miller in writing the State of the Union speech.

This is him with some other people:

This is one of his ex-wives. He was responsible for her appearance.

He has been on a temporary security pass for the last year, as the FBI refused to give him proper clearance after both his ex-wives accused him of assault during clearance investigations. Despite that, he seems to have had full access to everything, accompanying Trump to Davos and to Peking, where he was one of the few to get to shake hands with the Chinese President.

Now the story is out, and so is he.

It's a bigger story than that, though, because John Kelly knew the situation but didn't tell Trump. Not only that, but he released a statement supporting Porter when the story was broken (by our own Daily Mail). Speculation is building that Kelly is again out of favour and his job is on the line. An extra bit of spice is that Porter has been seeing Hope Hicks for the last couple of months.

Pressure grows on John Kelly amid reports he offered to resign

"Pressure on White House chief of staff John Kelly was intensifying on Saturday after a series of missteps........Ominously Donald Trump has been grumbling about Kelly’s performance and weighing up possible replacements."

"Observers used to hope that John Kelly would be able to tame Donald Trump. Now, the joke goes, they are hoping Donald Trump will be able to tame John Kelly."

"There were high expectations that, with such gravitas and authority, he would be the grownup in the room, smoothing the rough edges off the would-be authoritarian Trump. It’s been the opposite: Kelly has reinforced Trump’s worst instincts. Trump is a human wrecking ball and Kelly is his biggest enabler.”

The first two openly gay US Winter Olympiians refuse to attend Mike Pence meet and greet. "You mean Mike Pence, the same Mike Pence that funded gay conversion therapy? I'm not buying it."

Is this referring to a particular Trump gaffe? I missed this one. Or is it just a play on America First?

It was just a play on 'America First'.
I mean, it was definitely a reference to bergeroo's video.

Pakistan is building a fence along its border - and the USA is going to pay for it (they hope).

'The Trump slump': Remington files for bankruptcy as gun sales tumble

A gun-friendly President is terrible news for America's gun companies. Fear of controls means people get their guns while they can. Without the threat of restrictions, there is no urgent need to do so. Suddenly, the gun manufacturers are in big trouble. Smith & Wesson's owner's profits are down 90% year-on-year. Remington has just filed for bankruptcy.

The main reason Remington went bust of course that it’s private equity owners loaded it with a billion in debt and took out loads of dividends.

First time there's ever been a positive outcome of private equity owners greedily lining their pockets?
