Loved Bill Withers RIP :-(

Me too.

I distinctly remember a late lamented friend putting "Lean on Me" on his turntable to cheer me up one day when I was feeling down.

That was the first time I'd ever heard him. I've been a huge fan ever since.

RIP Bill

RIP Stirling Moss aged 90.

One of the greatest motor racing drivers of all time and a motorsport icon.

Considered by many (although Gilles Villeneuve fans may disagree) to be the greatest driving to never win the F1 Championship. He was up against Fangio, though!

Probably the first motor racing driver that police used when stopping speeding motorists with the phrase "Who do you think you are, Stirling Moss?" That phrase has changed through the generations to use James Hunt, Nigel Mansell, Lewis Hamilton etc.

A true great in his time, when I very first became interested in football he was one of the guys my dad and his friends used to talk about in ‘when I was a lad’ legend sort of way. There was something about the name and the nickname that really captured the imagination of the 8 year old me.

He did throw a crucial one in against W.Germany in the 1970 WC semi-final when Gordon Banks was injured and we had arguably a better team than in 1966, but I'm prepared to forgive him for that now as he was undoubtedly a great 'keeper.

RIP
