Really shocked didn't expect this one bit. Such a talented guitarist.

Back in the day at the "youth" disco we all groaned at Hi Ho Silver Lining coming on but within the first line we'd be all singing along.

A flawed character for sure but instrumental in producing one of the best albums ever - Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Truly a flawed genius. What a life he had in and out of music.

We have lost the legend that was Burt Bacharach aged 94.

I'm not ashamed to say that I loved quite a few of his songs. Billboard called him a titan having charted in some capacity in the 1950s, ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, and then, largely via samples and covers, in the ‘90s, ’00s and ‘10s.

From their website the Grammy and Academy Award winner wrote or co-wrote seven No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in his lifetime, and they reigned in four distinct decades. Here’s a rundown, listed chronologically:

Herb Alpert, “This Guy’s in Love With You” (No. 1 for four weeks, beginning June 22, 1968)
B.J. Thomas, “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” (four, beginning June 3, 1970)
Carpenters, “(They Long To Be) Close to You” (four, beginning July 25, 1970)
Christopher Cross, “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)” (three, beginning Oct. 17, 1981)
Dionne & Friends (Elton John, Gladys Knight & Stevie Wonder), “That’s What Friends Are For” (four, beginning Jan. 18, 1986)
Patti LaBelle & Michael McDonald, “On My Own” (three, beginning June 14, 1986)
Twista feat. Kanye West & Jamie Foxx, “Slow Jamz” (one, Feb. 21, 2004)

Two of my favourite versions of his songs were Walk on By - The Stranglers & I just don't know what to do with myself by both Dusty Springfield and the one by the White Stripes.

R.I.P. Mr Bacharach.

My mum liked him, follwed by Des Lynam ofc.

I preferred Grandstand but my best friend at the time was Lyndsey Hussey, sister to Mark "Rollerball" Rocco and daughter of Big Jim Hussey famous wrestlers who lived in the pub across the road at the time so WOS won out.

The first thing that came into my head when I heard of DD's death was Half Man Half Biscuit's Dickie Davies Eyes. https://youtu.be/SwG414rpqmQ
