Went back to gala tonight for the first time in ages and really enjoyed it. This is the hand that cost me my stack. There was 40 people left and i think realising it was a hand to get to the average for the final may have affected how i played. Any thoughts would be nice. Blinds 300/600 8 handed average is 20k 40 left UTG + 2 (10k) solidish but obv trying to get a double up UTG + 3 (30k) fishy madness, god know what planet he is on UTG + 4 (30k) me UTG + 2 raises to 16, fishy bloke calls, i call behind with Flop comes UTG + 2 bets 2.5k UTG + 3 raises to 10k This is where i think i went wrong, i decided i was getting the implied odds to try and stack them both. So i flat called again. UTG + 2 folds. Fishy bloke bets 10k on a blank river. I flat call. Miss on the river and it pairs the board. Fishy guy moves all in and i instafold. Any thoughts gratefully received (no need to point out the sweet sweet irony of referring to the guy as fishy when im fishing against a made set for a club)

Yeah it would be really fair wouldnt it, when the low chipped table, receives a low chipped player who gets knocked out and replaced by a low chipped player who goes all in and is called by another low chipped player who is then knocked out and replaced with a low chipped player. The table now has 12000 chips between them and the blinds are 5000/10000. Love your thinking evilpie.

Kev, is the bash final on Monday?
If so can i swap prizes with Boldie!
Otherwise, dealing, tournament directing, playing on blonde and drinking could overload my head!
Sorry all sat entries are non transferable and non refundable, thats in accordance with ipokers tournament policy and not a blonde ruling. Nothing I can do about it I am afraid. No problem at all Kev. I thought that would be the case. For some reason i thought it was on Sunday until i actually opened my eyes and looked at the date! Could be an interesting monday night! Gl All!

Can you say 'multiway'? I think when the smoke cleared at the end of this frankly ridiculous hand the exiter was Stuart Hopkin, but I only got there towards the end as an excitable Tikay came to let us know that six limpers had all called a preflop raise to 400... The raiser was presumably Nathan Ticehurst, who, with was one of the two players to get his stack in on a flop. The other was Hopkin, whose had done fairly well out of the first three cards. Turn: River: (and while I originally thought Hopkin held Fives and was surprised to see the pot going to Ticehurst) ..."Got there in the end," he said, somewhat apologetically, with the shrug of someone counting their nice new stack regardless. I was surprised, it was that horrible moment when you realise that the two pairing means your going home! Tell evilpie he is stack is embarrassingly small! Well done u two and good night!

They can make as much money as they want for me. Ive only dealt with HSBC but i find them amazingly helpful, and all charges and rates are very reasonable.
Its the same with supermarkets none of the food in a supermarket is unreasonably priced. I like tesco's myself, they have their fingers in so many pots, they are incredibly cheap on EVERYTHING they do from bread to car insurance. If they can make a mint doing it why shouldnt they?
Of course the banks are going to report reduced profits but there still going to be profits.
I agree with some of your other points, but I honestly think one of the main factors in Northern Rocks problems was the way it was portrayed in the media. Things were obviously bad, but the worst thing that could possibly happen was for someone to wind everyone up and blow it out of all proportion causing everyone to rush and withdraw every penny they have!

They only made £55 million, next thing Wetherspoons will anounce its in trouble due to its lack of profit. Then the government will buy it and we will have our first public sector pubs.
The best one i saw was in the Sun a couple of months back. The headline was house repossessed/credit crunch. The story then went on about a couple who had now moved into a friends pigeon shed, there children were living with relatives. They had lost their house due to the credit crunch. Interesting points in the story were, that the husband was on disablity for some breathing disorder from his unhealthy obssession with pigeons, he received £400 a month. The wife had just had her hours cut so she could work closer to home, this sent her income from £200 a week to £400 a month. They bought there house for £27,000. They decided to have 6 children. They took out a loan to pay the mortgage, it was £5,000 but due to missed payments they now owed £25,000.
Why would the Sun use the word credit crunch in these story. Surely a more appropriate headline would have been....
PIGEON F&*CKER AND LAZY COW POP OUT KIDS TILL THEY GO BROKE, THEN TAKE OUT LOANS TO COVER THERE £150 MONTHLY MORTGAGE PAYMENT
But oh no, they werent shown as stupid, they were just an example of what the credit crunch does to people like us.
Please dont get me started on the Stamp Duty holiday................................................

Watching panorama now.
Its promoting the credit crunch by showing things that are completely unrelated.
A terrible pub, that struggles for customers. There struggling.
[ ] This is caused by the credit crunch
[ x ] This pub is shit
A family has no money so they rent rooms their childrens bedrooms to foriegn student students
[ ] This is caused by the credit crunch
[ x ] This is a stupid person who could never afford her own bills.
Discuss
[ ] The credit crunch is real
[ x ] The credit crunch is created by the media on behalf of the government.
