Utd have rarely had two fully fit strikers for any stretch of time. Ronaldos brilliant form has produced goals that you'd expect from a centre forward.
back 4 have never settled and it's the depth of the squad that's kept the ship steady.
I'm not saying it's been an injury disaster like Arsenal for example, it's just not been plain sailing. It'll be a bigger achievement than the last treble because we had an easier time of it injury wise and we also had the top two strikers in the league that year. was it 20 odd each from Cole and Yorke?
Yes - but this time you have the best player in the world. IMO in '99 Keane was the best player in the world.

Yes best hard man midfielder in 1998-99 but he wasnt even voted PFA Player of the Year that season - David Ginola got it (probably the weakest winner to win in it in ages). Also - that year Man Utd spent a lot in the summer having seen Arsenal win the double - i think they brought in Stam and Yorke from memory. Yes he had a good semi against Juve (2nd leg) but he WAS NOT the best player in the world. He was not even considered the best premiership player (although he was the year after!!!!)

The fact that Ginola won the PFA says a lot. Also the fact that Keane won it the year after - he cant have been that far off in 99 can he? Let's be honest - home nations based players NEVER get World Player of the Year. If Henry wasn't a worthy winner in the last two years then I dont know who was. All I know is the year Man U did the treble Keane was the most influential player they had.

How about Cannavaro and Ronaldinho I can't argue with the selections around Keane's peak: 98: Zidane (Ronaldo 2nd) 99: Rivaldo (Beckham) 00: Zidane (Figo) 01: Figo (Beckham) 02: Ronaldo (Khan)

In 98 and 00 Zidane steered France to World and Euro success. In 02 Ronaldo did the same for Brazil.
In the non-international competition years the influential player in a treble winning side shouldn't be far off the award IMO.
I'm not knocking Rivaldo though. The man was class.
Just seems more and more like the winners will always be someone who does "Guapa".
