Mancini took Tevez off at the weekend and replaced him with Gareth Barry and they are Man City and they were at home and they were 0-0 at the time.

This. All day long this.

After sticking with our last boss through some of the dross we served up last season I hope I'm not seen as a knee-jerkist....

HODGSON OUT!

I know exactly how you feel.  It doesn't feel right, and it's not the 'Liverpool way' to be calling for the manager to go less than half-way through a season, especially with the turmoil that was going on at the club when he arrived.

BUT, (and you've mentioned this as well) it's not the results that are the problem, it's the manner in which we're playing 90% of our games and then his laughable comments in interviews and in the media.  We played well against Arsenal in the first game of the season, and we played well against Chelsea a week ago.  I seriously can't remember another game this season where we've played well.  We've nicked the odd win here and there, and maybe lost a few games where a draw would have been fair.  But there's nothing to cling on to in terms of improvement or any movement in the right direction.  Rafa was criticised for the way he got the team to play.  It was pretty effective though, and when it worked, it worked well.  The game against Chelsea was an aberration.  Instead of going to Wigan and Stoke and thinking that these will be tough sides to break down, but hopefully our class/talent/quality will come to the fore and we can prevail - we now go to these games looking to eke out a draw and the fans (quite rightly) fear the worst.  Then after we lose/draw, Hodgson comes out with comments that he's happy with the way we played, etc.

Not since Souness have I wanted a Liverpool manager to be replaced during a season.  It says something that I'm reluctantly feeling the same way about Hodgson now.

Doesn't matter who your manager is if you dont have a club culture that determines how you want the team to play.

Was watching La Liga Revisited on Sky yesterday and they raised a good point. Ajax, Arsenal, Barca (And now Seville, valencia etc.) all are clubs that have a football culture first (Ajax to a lesser extent these days) in which all their youngsters are taught to play a certain way. This way they are not subject to the whims of every manager that comes in and it saves them fortunes in the transfer market.

Liverpool don't have the financial clout the compete with the big teams at the moment so they should be looking at their youth academy..managers dont do this in the UK because everything is short-term results based. Managers are sacked every season and replaced with some other spanner who can't make a club successful because he doesnt have the ammunition to compete.

Liverpool have 2 world class players in Torres and Gerrard (And possibly one in Reina) but that's it. How can you compete with a team like Chelsea or even Arsenal (who would always challenge for the title if they could keep their players for longer)? you dont have the financial fire-power of a Chelsea or Man City and you dont have the youth academy of an Arsenal.

Hodgson is in over his head (although it's hilarious that people only now look at his appaling away record in the EPL..maybe should have done that before he became your manager?) but the club itself needs a lot more time and a complete overhaul before it can start getting competitive.

Wonder if the supporters will have the patience for that though.

The fans do have the patience.  When G&H were being removed from the club, most Liverpool fans would have taken administration and points deduction ahead of G&H retaining ownership.  Again, I don't think the fans would mind being in the league position we're in now if we were moving in the right direction.  But we're playing terribly, players aren't happy, and we seem to be moving backwards rather than forwards.  We're not Citeh or Chelsea so we can't just go out and buy world class players and the fans recognise that.

As for the youth, I find that frustrating.  We have a lot of good youngsters coming through the academy (and the youth teams have been very strong over recent years), but they don't seem to come through to the first team.  Pacheco is an excellent little player, but he's looking to move on now as well.

Agree mate - unfortunately we had the philosophy before most of those you mention - bar Ajax. As Carragher once said though Fergie didn't knock us off our perch - we fecked it up ourselves.

Agree. It has been profitable but miniscule compared to making a few world beaters.

8 of the Barca squad that whooped Utd a few years ago were academy products. But you see they don't have to compete with 5 or 6 other EPL clubs within a 40 mile radius. It's harder in the north west than anywhere else in world football. I genuinely believe that.

The future of Liverpool football (Stolen from Queens Park Rangers)

Potentially so so good.

A lot of LFC bloggers and reporters are now saying players aren't happy which is by far the most worrying part of this article:
