Thank Robbie for Kuyt.

He's overrated IMO

Only by me and you.

The problem last night was that he was there carrying the piano, but we didn't have any maestros to play it (apologies to Shankly for paraphrasing his quote).

Ngog has been given ample opportunity to shine, as has Poulsen. Both will be off in the summer.

Hopefully, Dirk will have a shiny, new, extended contract very soon.

Yep agree with all of this, Kuyt was carrying the team last night he played very well...As for N'gog what a donk , he aint ever gonna cut the mustard for the pool I'm afraid so GTFO in the summer. Problem is we need another striker preferably a good striker but who can we sign that will be prepared to be the back up stiker but yet if he did get a game you would'nt feel much weaker...

Came out onto the court wearing it, warmed up in it, and then put it on after the match (that she won easily).

When Carroll and Suarez are fit and playing regularly, I'm not sure we need another striker to bring in.  Kuyt is decent enough backup to play alongside either, or fill in according to the formation.  There are some good players coming through who might be worth fast-tracking (rubber dinghy rapids bro) rather than looking to buy in someone who is only going to warm the bench most of the time (like Mascherano was signed to do at Barca).  Ngog is still young, but he's not likely to improve dramatically I don't think.

Then there's Cole.   He was woeful a lot of the game yesterday, and certainly hasn't delivered at Liverpool.  He's obviously a talent, but the question is do we stick with him and his wages, or sell him on and make some money and release the wage burden that can then be spent elsewhere?  I actually prefer Cole to Maxi on the left though, but think we need to sign a quality player to stick on the left.  In fact there are a few players I hope we can sign in the summer - and it would also be nice to see some of the youth come through as well.

Good post there Kin, wholeheartedly agree. Kuyt will certainly come in handy with his versatility.

N'gog is an odd one for me. Most strikers decline past 27 - there is good evidence of this which means he should be there or there abouts already as a potent striker at his age. But the exception to this is the physical front man. If he piles on the pounds I think he'll do ok. Positionally he's excellent. He's got ok pace, he's ok physically and has a good football brain. Obviously his finishing needs work.

Jamie Carragher has spoken of his great pride at becoming the record British appearance holder in European competition.

The Reds' vice-captain took his tally to 137 matches in continental football when he featured as a second-half substitute in Thursday night's 1-0 win over Sparta Prague and he admits it is a great honour to achieve such a feat.

"Obviously it means a lot," he said in an exclusive interview with LFC TV.

"Liverpool is my club but it's got a lot of history and a lot of people have achieved success, so to be top of the list is something I'm very proud of.

"I wasn't aware of it until I saw it on the TV when I got home after the match. It was only then that I realised. It's a nice little achievement. Hopefully I can add a few more games over the next few years."

He continued: "Obviously I knew how many matches I'd played but I wasn't aware what the likes of (Ryan) Giggs and (Paul) Scholes had done. They've had great careers and played a lot in Europe, so to be above them when they are two or three years older than me, was something that did surprise me a bit.

"But I've got the record at the moment and I'd like to keep hold of it for as long as possible."

Carragher took his total to 655 matches in all competitions for Liverpool when he replaced Martin Kelly against the Czech outfit.

It leaves him 202 short of the club's all-time leading appearance holder, Ian Callaghan but the No.23 concedes it will be nigh on impossible to catch the Reds legend.

"No, I don't think I can catch him," he said.

"I'm on record as saying that it is a record he'll keep and he should keep it. He's one of the nicest ex-players I've met and it's a record he thoroughly deserves. I'd be honoured and privileged to come in just behind him if possible.

"If I can get somewhere near 700 appearances I'd be absolutely delighted."

At the age of 33, Carragher has already acknowledged that he is in the twilight of his playing career.

However, he still feels he has a lot to offer the Reds cause and would relish the opportunity to continue his love affair with the club in a coaching capacity once he has hung up his boots.

"That's something to look at in a few years' time," he added.

"I am taking my badges and if the opportunity comes along I'd be delighted, but I wouldn't want to step on someone's toes.

"I've played for Liverpool all of my life and it'd be a dream to do that after I finish playing. If I can learn off the likes of Kenny (Dalglish) and his experience, all the better.

"Once you finish playing you are starting from scratch so there'd be no better place to learn and no better people to learn from, than here."

Sigh.

Skrtel back to his old ways, Gerrard watching the game go past him, and Suarez completely ineffective.  Let's hope the second half is a lot, lot better.
