Anyone else spit their Heineken out when Gerrard said Mario worked his socks off, or was it just me?
TV doesn't show it all granted, however was i watching a different game?
Great goal mind, but his lack of movement kills us up top, and he takes space up where Sterling/Coutinho/Lallana thrive in (philippe being the exception currently!) which makes them go wider/deeper.

We played a lot like we did at the start of last season. However, this year we are trying to integrate more players so it might take longer. However, except for the absence of Suarez, the quality of the players is better.
Need Skrtel back alongside Lovren for starters, and a keeper to challenge Mingolet (Victor?) would be most helpful.

Starting to agree about the keeper, great shot stopper, good reactions, but not good at much else.

Didn't see the interview but I went to the game last night and Mario was bone idle barely any movement off the ball at all,it took borini to come on and liven him he suddenly started moving around and making and even closing down when borini came on.Shouldnt take Rodgers to bring a sub on for him to start trying!

Don't know if it's lack of effort, or a lack of understanding as to what he's mean to be doing. He seems to come far too deep at times (the wrong times), when he's needed as a target man. He'll benefit more from having Sturridge on the pitch with him (and vice versa). At least he got his goal, that should settle him down a bit.
Lallana looked rusty, and that's understandable considering his injury and lack of pre-season. He'll be an asset when he's firing on all cylinders, and the way Coutinho's been playing recently, I'm not sure he's going to do enough to overcome his deficiencies which is a shame as he showed loads of potential last season.

We also need to adapt our play at times to the players we have available.
If we have Ballotelli and Lambert playing then at times we need to play early high balls in to take advantage.
Mignolet continues to look a liability under pressure, not sure on Lovren either, doesn't look quick enough and keeps getting done by the balls down the channel

I think Lovren is trying to do too much. He's covering for Sakho's frailties and lack of positional awareness and that's actually harming Lovren's own game. I think Skrtel is a better partner for him (when fit), and even then Lovren will have to spend a lot of his time marshalling Skrtel and telling him what to do.
I think that Lovren will provide to be an excellent signing - and I hope I'm right.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Manquillo, Moreno, Lovren, Skrtel, Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas, Sterling, Borini, Balotelli.
Liverpool substitutes: Jones, Toure, Enrique, Sakho, Markovic, Lallana, Lambert.

That was poor. Don't really want to see Borini and Lucas in the side again, they're simply not good enough. Only positive was Lallana when he came on. Shame he picked up that injury.
Lots of work to do, and we need Allen, Can and most importantly, Sturridge back fit and available to play.
League cup on Tuesday now...sigh.

Having Sturridge in the side won't make any difference if we can't create openings.
This start to the season has just highlighted how dependant we were on Luis.

The defending again especially set pieces was worrying can't wait for Sturridge to come back thought lallana did well when he came on.At least Rodgers changed it when manquillo was getting overrun by Valencia not sure he's up to it myself we will see.Agree on Lucas I thought Rodgers would have learnt after playing him against the saints I'm prepared to give borini the benefit of doubt but I also think he isn't liverpool standard I was delighted when Sunderland were going to pay 14m!
