Sakho needs to improve, and quickly.

Lots of huffing and puffing but yet again we fail to break down an organised defence.

Unless we start well and score quickly we look very ordainary.

I fear this could be a very frustrating season.

Sturridge was a massive miss, especially with Lallana, Markovic and Balotelli all making their Anfield debuts.

Villa defended very well (aside from Senderos kicking Balotelli off the ball a number of times, but unseen by the referee - wonder if he'll be punished retrospectively?), and despite all the possession it was Coutinho's shot that hit the post that was the closest we got to scoring.

I wouldn't judge the team on that one game, but it did highlight that there's a lot of work in progress, especially with the new players, but also with Coutinho and Sterling.

No shots on target in the final 84 minutes of the game according to bbc sport. Didnt relise it was as bad as that.

We looked a different team to spurs last time out, and it is the inconsistence i thought we'd got rid of

As a neutral I thought Balotelli was awful.

The most worrying thing for me was the poor defending from set pieces for me again he looked like conceding everytime were rarely troubled in open play by villa, the lack of tempo in our game made it easier for villa and didn't help the lack of creativity.ballotelli was poor yesterday but couldn't believe senderos got way with what he did especially as he told the Lino to keep an eye on it.

Can you even imagine the press today and phone-ins and twitter if he kicked senderos!

I think social media would have imploded.

Surely FA have to retrospectively look at, as it won't be in the referee's report clearly
