All our remaining games against the top sides are at Anfield, which has to be a positive (assuming we can beat the sides below us away from home).

A good test of peoples thoughts; is it CL or do we have half an eye...
Assumibg we beat Villa at home- chelsea vs man utd.
8 clear of mancs and 1 point behind Chelsea.
Who do we want? (Draw obvious ruled out)

Yeah, it's almost a case of ABU for me. We're not going to win the league, and so we really want any of the teams challenging for 3rd & 4th to lose as much as possible anyway. Citeh and Chelsea will finish first and second, Arsenal most likely to finish 3rd (if not higher if they manage to sustain their form), so that leaves Liverpool, Everton, Spurs and maybe one other fighting for the remaining CL spot.
But when any of the top sides play each other, a draw is never a bad result as it means only two points have been awarded from a possible 3.
Really though, that's all academic. Liverpool need to focus on getting the results, and sod what anyone else is doing. But as fans, it gives us someone to anti-rail

Pretty clear that for Liverpool there's no problem scoring, but defensively there are issues. Could do with some more clean sheets.

We need to get through the next 3 games. When the CL starts again teams around us will fall away.

From the Beeb:
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25693308
MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
• The home side has not won any of the last five fixtures between these clubs.
• Aston Villa have lost just one of their last four matches at Anfield.
• This is the 186th meeting between the sides. Liverpool have won 91, Aston Villa 55 and there have been 39 draws.
Liverpool
• Liverpool have scored 51 goals in the Premier League this season, four more than they managed in 2011-12. This equals their top-flight record after 21 matches, which they set in 1987-88 - when they won the league.
• The Reds have scored four or more goals in six Premier League matches this season, a total matched only by Manchester City.
• Luis Suarez's tally of 22 league goals (in 16 games) is unsurpassed by nine Premier League clubs this season.
• His goals account for 43% of Liverpool's league total this season.
• No team has conceded fewer home goals (six) than Liverpool this season in the Premier League (level with Man City and Arsenal).
• Steven Gerrard has scored 11 Premier League goals against Aston Villa, more than against any other side. He scored in both league matches last season.
Aston Villa
• Villa have won almost double the number of points away from home (15) than at Villa Park (eight).
• Christian Benteke scored three goals against Liverpool in the Premier League last season, more than any other player managed against the Reds.
• Benteke's goal against Arsenal on Monday was his first for 14 hours and 45 minutes. Nonetheless, his record of five league goals in his first 16 appearances this season is identical to the 2012-13 campaign, in which he went on to score another 14 goals in 18 matches.
Think these stats highlight how well Liverpool are doing this season.
Quite a surprise to me, considering I wasn't impressed with our early performances (even though we were managing to get the 3 points). Definitely playing good attacking football now though. Although I am surprised by by the meanness of the defence at Anfield. Thought we'd been shipping more goals than that at home.

Only 6 at home is an eye opener!
Reported on bbc sport liverpool game, also stating rht John Henry will be in attendance at Anfield- for the first time since Rodgers was appointed!!??
That has to be incorrect, surely.

If Suarez scores, that'll be 8 consecutive home games - a record at Liverpool.

A goal down, and thoroughly deserved. Midfield is terrible.

I know it's sacrilegious but Gerrard really wrecks the momentum and tempo Liverpool have when he's not in the side
