Barca wanted him to say sorry. I think he is on his way now. Let's hope we get full value.

Not sure I buy that. Maybe Liverpool wanted him to apologise?

Looks like you were right, and Barca are pulling all the strings here.

To quote someone on another forum I'm on, who puts it better than I could:

Quote
"If it is as it seems to be - that Suarez has been forced into a climbdown in order to appease a club he does not have any connection with, a club he wants to transfer to, and treats with absolutely no regard and no mention the difficulties he has created for his present employers and their fans who have stood shoulder to shoulder with him over several unnecessary bouts of trauma and disrepute.

Then it's official ........

Suarez is, without a shadow of a doubt, a complete and perfectly formed, snivelling little shit.

Albeit one who is brilliant at football."

toally agree i cant see him going and certainly not for that price

but my OP did say i just read it, which i had and now read it in 5 or 6 papers while searching to see if adam has gone to you yet

Ok I'll bite.

£31m?!! Surely for that price, you'd pack his bags and drive him to Madrid yourself? Until he does anything beyond have a good few weeks in the best passing football side in the league, even accounting for his age, he's not worth more than £15m yet, plus whatever the cost of his contract is worth.

In before someone compares him to Lamela.

you cant replace a young english player af that level for that amount of money tal, and if liverpool want a strong squad for ECL they need to keep young enlgish talent

Andros Townsend would be at least half the price. Offer Levy £20m and you'll hear a car start before you hang up the 'phone.

Yes but he's pants.

Emre Can - done deal for £10M

Good player, and only 20 years old - so plenty of potential as well.

thumbs up

I think you need to take into account the new financial position of Premier League teams in general when assessing player prices. The TV deal secured a year or two ago was obscene. raheem sterling is a player of significant potential, has shown end product at an extremely young age, and is English. The last point is massive as English players come with a huge premium due to their marketing potential. He's 18-19? Similar to Luke Shaw, he's very low risk, excluding injury, in the sense he could be easily sold on for £20-25m if her has a poor year or two. Anyone who has watched him would agree it's unlikely he's going to drop in performance level too dramatically. If a 27 year old Lallana is going for 23m then to sell Sterling for 31m would be crazy - 8 years junior and already picked above him for England. The football economy, particularly in England, is detached from real life - 31m is not 'that' much in comparison to what the market is paying for the best players, and certainly isn't enough to sell the best young player you've had come through since Gerrard when you've finally just got back into the Champions League! Not to mention the signal it sends out to players who might be considering joining.

£71m.

That's what's going round as the agreed fee. No Sanchez.
