Marca are reporting a 50m bid from us for Benzema.
Unfortunately, it's just them reporting on the Metro's story. So probably nothing in it at all.

Thanks for the thrills and spills Luis, and good luck at Barca.
Right, Rodgers has £75m burning a hole in his pocket, are we going to splash out on a Benzema-type player or will we see players like Bony being brought in to the club?

Lukaku ?
Doubt Chelsea will want to do another "sturidge"
I would like a highet standard of forward too, we need it if we are to maintain our top 4 status and be comfortable with it, tather than battling. Anything other is a backwards step

Sad to see Luis go as he's such a fantastic player but this move suits all parties,we won't be able to get a direct replacement as I think he irreplaceable but could help strengthen the squad.

Best striker in the world. Was inevitable he'd leave at some point, he always wanted to play in Spain for Barca or Real, Liverpool were a stepping-stone to that. Saying that, he always put in 100% on the pitch for the team. £75m is a fair whack of money, but Barca still have a bargain.

I'm a United fan, but I'm be sad to see Suarez go. When you weigh up his good moments & bad I think he's comfortably in credit for Liverpool. To think he could have gone for £40m (and a £1...) last season depending on an assessment of his contractual terms too. So £75m in light of all the facts is very good business. The fact is though, they're losing a player who at his best is a footballing genius, and for most of last season that was his modus operandi.
In that respect, I really do think Liverpool need to go out and make a proper marquee signing to be competitive in the title race next season. Sanchez would have been an ideal replacement, and I think anyone finishing above Arsenal next season wins the league. Such a massive signing for them in terms of having a true world class player with the pace to get in behind a defense, their first player of that quality since Henry. When you add in the injuries of Walcott, Ramsey and Chamberlain last season and all 3 likely to be fit for preseason, their squad is going to be very strong for this one.

I think this proves Liverpool really are just a stepping stone club at best for any major footballer in world football. It's very hard to not see them regress straight back out of the top 4 next season. Just can't see who they can sign marquee player wise to replace Suar so they have to take a massive step back next season. Quite incredibly Coral offer 11/10 they finish outside the top 4 next season. Suggest all the Scousers on here load up so at least you can profit from the obvious regression which is going to occur next season.
