I come in peace

2-2 against us today, and we are the aggrieved side after that first penalty decision but a good point nonetheless

Despite being rested on Sunday Gerrard was a complete passenger in the second half today. Not watching every Liverpool game, as you guys do, was surprised to see his decline from even a year ago

Thought the first penalty wasn't, the second was very generous, and the third (that wasn't given) was a definite penalty.

A draw was the right result, and I've said for ages that Leicester don't deserve to be bottom of the league and they have a decent chance of staying up.

If everyone else can see it, he no doubt already knows it.

Not ready to hang them up, and obviously fancies a couple years printing in warmer climates.

In unrelated matters, it would be nice if Sturridge could stay fit for the year, once he is back!

Henderson seems the logical choice, think gerrard has done the club and Rodgers a massive favour not stretching the next years out at Liverpool but what a player he's has been he's pulled out of many tight spots and will go down as one of the club greats

The rumour I hear is that he might never be the same player again.  Although they said that about RvP too.

Marv...

Hopefully Rooney wins the golden boot, so that I'm paying Micko with the bookie's money!

Gerrard

the airwaves are full of "is he liverpool's greatest ever?"

isn't this huge recency bias?

i could make a case for

Dalglish
Rush
Souness (i'd argue long and hard to have souness over gerrard in a midfield. hard as nails and could play too)
Hughes
Hansen
St John
Hunt

all might have claims. of course many people opining that stevie g is the best ever might not have seen some of these play

i know its impossible to compare across eras and positions, but Dalglish for me

people on here would entertain stevie g being the best liverpool player ever, or not?

Isn't the most significant point that, if you took Dalgleish out of his team, they'd still be up there, albeit not winning everything, but if you took Gerrard out of that 2005 CL team and so on, they're nowhere near? How many of those other players would make a squad of Liverpool's best ever? The team of the late seventies would have eight or more in an all-time 23.

He's carried the team, particularly in cup nights, from also rans to champions. Going to be very hard for the fans who watched to forget that.

That's my outsider perception, anyway.

Kenny played in a team alongside many great players that helped make him look good

Stevie played in teams full of average players some of whom he managed to make look goodish

(playing devils advocate)

Xabi Alonso was the beating heart of the side that won in Istanbul, it wasn't exactly Gerrard and 10 no hopers

each of Gerrard's good sides had a lethal goalscorer (Owen, Fowler, Suarez) that was just as important as Gerrard was. Same as the side of the 70s and 80s, which had a lot of squad depth.

of course the 70s and 80s sides didn't have the foreign owned massively funded chelsea, man city, man u sides to compete against, so the competitive playing field was easier
