Just caught up on the Lefthanded reference in the betting thread. My Dad was made to learn how to use his right hand. Its strange though me and my brother / sis all lefthanded. My two kids lefthanded. Our nursery asked me if I wanted them to try encourage her (4) to use her righthand? i am like wtf why? makes no sense.

It makes no sense whatsoever, & it is a mystery why some think it is a problem.

Each of our individual minds are wired a specific way, & it is perfectly natural that we will develop along those lines.

I write left handed, & am a lefty at Snooker, Bowls, & Volleyball, but right-handed for Cricket & Golf. Right-footed, too.

The thing with forcing young children to change, as they did in my youth, was the humiliation we felt, as if we were somehow inferior. For a kid, that is the nut bad thing. Things were so different then, though, & we should not blame the parents & teachers, it was what they understood to be right, & it was not done maliciously.

Volleyball

What? Wink

I played Volleyball for many years, mainly against Lebanese, who, it seemed to me, were extraordinarily gifted at the game.

It is a bit liike poker, in that, with a very basic knowledge, anyone can play it in a manner in which they can at least enjoy themselves, if not win.

There was no way I could strike with my right hand though, it was quite beyond me.

There's a little bit of sense into trying to get kids to write right handed all those years ago..  All of us old enough to remember inkwells and blotting paper will understand.  The left handers in the class usually smudged their exercise books as their left hand would plough through wet ink.

Obv no sense at all nowadays with a Berol Handwriting pen...

Although right handed in just about everything, I somehow eat "left handed" and was strongly discouraged not to when young.  All because society had decreed that it was incorrect to do so.  Funny old game.

It used to be deemed extremely bad manners, uncouth even, to eat left handed, & have the knife in the left hand, & fork in the right hand.

When posh people came to visit us, if if we went somewhere posh for tea, we had to "revert" to the so-called correct way.

Incredible, when you think about it.

I'm left handed myself, play(ed) Cricket, Snooker,Darts and almost every other sport left handed, and I think the only ones I played right handed were Golf and Hockey.

However, for some strange reason I eat right handed and my right handed brother eats left handed...

I eat with my fork in my left hand because I was taught to do it that way during my very short time at school. It just seems natural now.

Watch Americans use a knife and fork. They put the knife into their right hand to cut the food, and then swap for the fork so that they can convey the food to their mouths. It seems so clumsy and labour intensive.

Tikay wanna swap some in those o8's?

I never know when you are lifting my leg, James........

Let me get this right. A WSOP Bracelet winner at PLO, & a runner up in a WSOP PLO8 wants to swap a % with ME? My life is complete.....

I will have to make that my signature. Wait until Keith Hawkins hears about this.

Assuming you are serious........how would that work, given that I will have sold a large % of myself? (Serious question).

Thank you. My Son (Max) has just turned 12 at the end of January. I say 12, more like 12 going on 16! Top of the class at everything though so I keep the discipline down to a minimum. OFC he supports the mighty potters!.....the ONLY team in Stoke.

I have sent you an urgent pm next door. If you can a chance to read it and reply before Wednesday, that would be marv.

Two options, either sell a little less than planned then swap with me rather than me buying the action (in essence we buy a share of each other). The other way is a bit more complex but see if your investors are happy for us to swap so there share in you also includes a bit in me. For eg, we swap 10% i cash for $100k, you get $10k someone who had 10% of you gets $1k. Downside being you cash for $100k, give me $10k now you have $90k so they would only get $9k.

2% booked with PLEASURE. I shall need to change my sig again. Thank you Keith.

Main Event? I have not given any thought to it, to be honest. I would probably be available to play it, but I really think I am "the value" in Hold Em these days. I assume you are alluding to the incredible staking thread which Greeky started last year as to myself, & maybe Tom, too, playing the WSOP Main. Fair bit of water has passed under the blonde bridge since then, some of it rather muddy...Wink

Thanks James. I was not sure you were serious, & I'm still struggling to see why you would swap with me. We don't need false humility here to see the facts.....

If my stakers ended up with a bit of YOUR action, that can only be +ev for all of them. However, I'd need to seek their approval to change the terms of the original deal first.

I'll drop them all a note privately (private is better) & see what they say, but I'm pretty sure they will bite my hand off.

For now, & provisionally, yes please, we will swap 10%. BOOKED.

This man's memory lives on......

He gets more like his Dad with every passing day, & has become a figure of fun. But there is not an ounce of bad in him, & he remains a force for good, notwithstanding the burden he carries as a Royal. God bless him.

F1 has changed a bit......

Doubt we see F1 cars in the pits having their water topped up via a garden watering can these days......

Safety has moved on a bit, too.
