Just caught up on the Lefthanded reference in the betting thread. My Dad was made to learn how to use his right hand. Its strange though me and my brother / sis all lefthanded. My two kids lefthanded. Our nursery asked me if I wanted them to try encourage her (4) to use her righthand? i am like wtf why? makes no sense.
It makes no sense whatsoever, & it is a mystery why some think it is a problem.
Each of our individual minds are wired a specific way, & it is perfectly natural that we will develop along those lines.
I write left handed, & am a lefty at Snooker, Bowls, & Volleyball, but right-handed for Cricket & Golf. Right-footed, too.
The thing with forcing young children to change, as they did in my youth, was the humiliation we felt, as if we were somehow inferior. For a kid, that is the nut bad thing. Things were so different then, though, & we should not blame the parents & teachers, it was what they understood to be right, & it was not done maliciously.

OK Medium-Slim bloke.....
When will I decide? No idea, but it needs to be soon. It is not entirely in my hands, I have various stuff going off which I can't really discuss here, though I think you know the score. Hopefully, all will be fine.
I don't know if next door will want me to go, either, they generally don't ask until a week or two before the date, & it is not for me to chase them. That, in itself, will not affect it either way, but it helps with booking flights & stuff, & dates, if they ask me. If they do not, fine, I can play for longer if I am not needed to Host our players.
I don't even have a Passport at the moment, mine just expired, gawd knows how long it will take to sort that out.
I had to go up to London for a function on Friday night, & I found one of those photo-booths at Waterloo to get the Passport Photos. Jeez, they are so much more advanced now compared to a few years ago. The photos still come out crap though.
That business with my Bank Account, & Wonga, got much worse, too, & so my Account is now frozen again, it is a living nightmare, & I'm so cross with those Wonga people, it has caused me so much stress & worry. Really, they are being very negligent & irresponsible with the way they allow people to change the Bank Details for the payee. I hope they go skinto, I really do.

Kimiko Date, the professional tennis player who reached some grand slam semi-finals was born left-handed, but like many other Japanese children was encouraged to play right-handed. Wonder if her natural left-handedness helped her at all (with her backhand for example) or if she could have been an even better player if she'd been able to play as a lefty as she developed as a youngster.

There's a little bit of sense into trying to get kids to write right handed all those years ago.. All of us old enough to remember inkwells and blotting paper will understand. The left handers in the class usually smudged their exercise books as their left hand would plough through wet ink.
Obv no sense at all nowadays with a Berol Handwriting pen...
Although right handed in just about everything, I somehow eat "left handed" and was strongly discouraged not to when young. All because society had decreed that it was incorrect to do so. Funny old game.

Yes please, I'll be delighted to take 5% of you Vegas action should it be available.
I wish I could join you but it's not looking very likely at the moment so having a small piece of your action is the next best thing to actually going.
Can I also take 5% of your Vegas action? Last year's trip was entertaining to follow, and profitable!
Thanks Aaron, think you were one of my original team of intrepid stakers. Booked!
How is Leo these days, holiday plans sorted?
Leo is doing just great thanks. Nothing sorted out for holidays at the moment though, IT contracting and holidays don't mix too well I have found. I wonder what will get sorted first, you sorting out your Vegas trip or me sorting out the summer holidays?

Books & covers......
We form impressions, often terribly wrong, when we first see a person.
She/he looks a right so & so....
I saw this story recently, nothing special. The highlighted parts made me doubt the woman for some reason, it all sounded a bit precious.....
A BARRISTER who claims Harvey Nichols security staff assaulted her after
she tried to take a "tiny" dog into the Knightsbridge department store in her handbag
is suing the company for up to £1 million.
The highlighted part confirms - nutcase.

I could understand if they tried to change Chinese kids into being right-handed.
Anyone who has eaten Chinese food at a table in a biggish group where everyone is using chopsticks and has sat next to a left-hander will understand what I mean.

Windsor Davies (I think) the actor bloke, was on the wireless today, promoting a TV Show.
It is about a family of dwarfs (Wiki describes them that way, so I hope it is PC) who were "saved" from death in Auschwitz by the so-called Angel of Death, Josef Mengele.
So I had to look this up, & therein was an amazing story.
They were called the "Ovitz family".
See the section entitled "Auschwitz".

Funny old game.
It used to be deemed extremely bad manners, uncouth even, to eat left handed, & have the knife in the left hand, & fork in the right hand.
When posh people came to visit us, if if we went somewhere posh for tea, we had to "revert" to the so-called
correct
way.
Incredible, when you think about it.
