These were my favourite but I am a bit younger than you lot Smiley

Without looking at the image tag can you name the group?

The lead singer came into my sisters clothes shop a couple of years ago and left a £10 deposit on a dress for his partner. He never came back for either. Still a rebel.

Steve Harley & the Cockney Rebels?

It's not them - but as an aside, they (Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel) are playing at a festival I'm going to in the summer: http://www.beautifuldays.org/artists/2013-2/

I was there - that was a very beautiful day

But what a great line up at Beautiful Days - Primal Scream and The Levellers are two of the best live festival acts I've seen

Had to wait over an hour for Primal Scream at Leeds, allegedly Melvyn Benn from Festival Republic had had to go to the Leeds Police to 'rescue' them after some sort of shenanigans at their hotel

Interesting that tikay should mention John Lydon, as PIL were at Beautiful Days last year.

The Levellers are one of the best live bands I've ever seen, and the Beautiful Days festival is just brilliant.  Not a massive fan of Primal Scream, but looking forward to seeing Ocean Colour Scene again.

Big fan of both.

Large parts of my childhood were spent playing on a retro pinball machine in my mate's garage. In the corner was a record player and we'd play to a soundtrack of Hendrix, Led Zep, The Beatles, The Stones, The Who and The Cure. Very happy memories indeed.

On 29th June this year I celebrate my birthday at Glastonbury with, among others, the aforementioned friend. If the Stones do indeed headline as rumoured, it will be one of the all-time great days Smiley

Stones to play Glastonbury is a perennial Glasto rumour so don't get your hopes up too much.
Will this be your first trip to Worthy Farm?
Camping or Glamping?

Nah I've been a couple of times before.

Camping, obv Smiley

Personally not a fan of Ocean Colour Scene, but they actually were the best live band I've ever seen. It's amazing how good they were, especially as I was so indifferent to them as a band previously.

Two of the band were at Beautiful Days last year doing an acoustic set, which was really good.  They aren't a band I listen to much, but as you say they are very good live.  Pretty much like any live music if the band is decent.  Last year the Inspiral Carpets were playing at Beautiful Days and some of the people I was there with were very excited having been massive fans of the band during their pomp.  Unfortunately, they were very poor (the sound wasn't right at all) and they were the only band who disappointed over the festival.

I remember Sham 69. I was lead to believe it stood for skin heads at Margate 69, not sure if its true though.

As a skinhead in my youth I was a big fan of the Angelic Upstarts, does anyone remember them? I think Booder might

Used to listen to the Beatles, Ratpack (mom and dad) and a lot of Motown (mom) growing up.

Then, when I got to secondary school, it was all about Oasis v Blur (there was a brief Take That/East17 issue before then - everyone liked East 17 but we all look back and recognise just how good those early Take That records were)

Most of the music I bought with my pocket money was dance stuff, with the odd Charlatans/Oasis/Manics tape (I know...get me) thrown in.

Occasionally, I would get to listen to my dad's old vinyl, which was almost exclusively stuff left in the 70s for a reason (supertramp, Dr hook, captain beefheart...) but one day it was Frank Zappa.

Yes Craig , i remember them but was not a fan. Was also a skin but never into Oi , more traditional Reggae,Bluebeat and Ska.
Still got a soft spot for the skinhead girls , loved the feathercut.

I remember the Angelic Upstarts - I had a few of their records. That was Jimmy Pursey with Sham69 - didn't he join the sort of fake verion of the Sex Pistols after Jon Lydon left and Sid dies?

 Love The Cure also.

Did you like The Damned Tikay?

As a total aside I went to Epsom races a year ago and barely watched a horse. I was there to see Blondie and they were amazing.

Can't come tomorrow I'm afraid. Under orders going to a wedding.

I'm Beatles by a long, long way but a great shout on the Kinks who come second.

Blackbird and Something my two underated Beatles songs.

Not sure Jimmy Pursey played with them Neil. You may be getting confused with Ed Tudor Pole ?

Good shout on Something.

Jimmy Pursey was in the Sham Pistols, yeah, with Steve Jones and Paul Cook.

I think it's almost as daft saying that all punk is crap as most other generalisations.

Many kids today say that they don't like The Rolling Stones as it's the fashion, but when listening to their music not knowing who it is love it.

The Clash were an outstanding band with a unique style and a superb back-catalogue of both covers and songs that they wrote themselves. I have them in my top five bands of all time.
