I never knew you were a reader of this Diary. I assume you must be, how else would you know that? Are you from Next Door, by any chance?

I was consumed with rage at the BBC News article about that, here....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-25862543

Transport for London said the mixture of concrete and water

MIXTURE OF CONCRETE & WATER? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

The equipment was damaged when water and cement leaked into a room containing it.

WATER & CEMENT? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Unbelievable. The BBC used to be such a good resource for News.

PS - Thank you.

No?!

Very sad to hear that.

OK, the Tourney structures were not good, the Wifi did not work, & the room was usually very cold, but despite all that, that room is just about the most iconic Tourney room in the world, or at least that I've been to.

I shall miss it, a visit to Vegas is not complete until you've played in Caesars poker room.

Think I'll swerve PH, where it is rumoured the room will transfer to.

Quite amusing to see the 2+2 kids moaning about the rake there. The place must have cost a bomb to run, & have lost millions over the years.

What a shame.

Does look fairly impressive for a poker room I must admit.
Following on this question if you can tikay. For someone on their first trip to Vegas this year (planning stage at least) what rooms would you recommend? In order if at all possible, I don't want to hit the best early and then go downhill from there Cheesy

You've got to experience Binion's, Mr Shade. It's just about the opposite to that Caesar's room, while somehow having a historical mystique.

I will miss that Caesar's room. They had photos of all the stars of the past and present on the walls (the inspiration for the caricatures at DTD? Or maybe that's the Wall of Fame at Binion's?), albeit with one or two taken down after recent events, if memory serves.

I once saw TV's Tony Kendall play an Omaha8 comp in there. There were kids in hoodies and beats check-jamming left, right and centre. He was sitting back, nursing his stack and a venti latte, while all around him sweated and panicked about how best to get all their money in with 6788.

I left before the end but I assume he won.

Sigh at Caesers poker room.

It's the one image that sticks out in my mind about Vegas. Heroes on the walls, heroes at the tables, tucked away in what felt like an alleyway.

I'll reply over the weekend, properly, if I may, it deserves a full answer. Hopefully, some of the other Vegas veterans will chip in, too.

Have you seen the "Vegas Help & Info" Thread?

http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=56335.1860

Warning, it is 125 pages long, but ANY questions you have about travel & hotel deals, food, where to eat, or shop, the lot, ask on there, Simon Galloway & Marky147 field all the questions with great aplomb. Neither of them know a bean about poker though, so stick with me, I'm a fully-fledged 2+2 LolPro.

Hadn't seen the thread, will check over it today. I'm happy reading that much as I've gone back into the archives for "The Dusk Till Dawn Story" before, and that bad boy was LONG.

Look forward to the reply though, it'll be interesting to see how they all rank up with a man who's been there and seen it all :-)

Tony,

I just wanted to say what an absolute joy Fred is. I have only fairly recently found it, and have had so much fun and enjoyment from it, so thank you.

I'll reply to this over the weekend Lisa.

For now, thank you very much.

Looks like it's relocating rather than closing. Always found it excessively AC'd and was cold to play in tbh. On the casino floor might be better location and pick up random players.

I'm not quite sure how the TFT guys feel about me clogging up the thread with non profit making stories so I'll post this on here instead. Perhaps you can let me know Tikay where you think this would fit best ?

Pete was in Ladbrokes in Small Heath, Birmingham yesterday. He was about to leave when he realised he had lost his phone. Stolen obviously. He went straight up to the counter and said ' ring this number NOW, QUICKLY.'
The manager did as requested. There was only one other person in the shop, a large black gentleman. Pete could hear the phone ringing and marched straight up to this gentleman and said ' you don't think you are getting away with that do you, give it right back, NOW.
' What you talking about, man ? ' said the large black gentleman.
At this exact moment Pete felt a gentle vibration and realised his phone was still in his pocket.
'You're lucky I've got to go now' said Pete, walking out chuntering.

Morning Lisa, lovely story - Post more of them, please.

Regular readers - you may actually know this person.....

For those who do not folkow TFT, "sonour", aka Lisa, is the better half of Peter the Bandit, & mother of beautiful twins who must be at least 6 months old now.

She is a right character, & has been entertaining the TFT regulars, who follow her advice & progress in betting matters. 2 weks ago, she organised a bit of a betting coup against Ladbrokes, which involved a BIG number, all in cash, too. It was all legal & legit, it was just expoiting a loophole really, but I doubt a single Ladbrokes customer in the UK took them for as much. It was very technical, too, you needed a First in Maths just to understand the nuances of the matter.

She has been telling us stories of when she played a lot of snooker, usually £100 per frame, & she played golf, too.

These days she makes a nice living from betting, with her assistant Peter the Bandit doing the leg work - he often visits 20 or more different Betting Shops in a single morning to spread the money around.

It is real spiffing tales stuff, she is blonde's very own Titanic Thompson.

More stories, please, Lisa.

I may copy a few of your stories from TFT across to here later.

I'll also reply to Lisa's earlier Post soonest - Fred (TfT) is 2 years old today. We've had quite a ride, made a good few bob, & had a bunch of fun along the way. I doubt it will last much longer, for all manner of reasons, but wow, we've had some fun, & met an amazing array of characters along the way.
