Well that round was not great, the usual collection of crisp clean shots followed by semi duffs. I did a Par though. 330 yards Par 4, hit a lovely clean driver - like well over 150 yards if you don't mind - thinned my Iron approach to just shy of the edge of the green, then a decent chip. All I had to do then was hole the putt. Was a tricky downhill triple-breaker, every bit of 15 inches, & I drained it.
Very little course golf since though, the weather went super wet & I had some health niggles. I'm back at the Range most days now, & improving very very slowly.
The Range at Morley Hayes has Trackman now. Boy, what a piece of kit that is, so I can measure how bad I am. It gives carry, total, ball speed, spin, trajectory, everything. Very addictive though.
I solved my Iron problem & can hit them reliably clean & straight now, but now my Woods have gone to pieces.
I'm very "short" too, no matter how hard I try, I can't get reasonable length. Best I've hit my Driver so far is an embarrassing 205 yards, with best ball speed of 115mph. The Pros are getting 180mph.... I dare not tell you how short I am with Irons. I suppose age, loss of muscle mass, & poor technique.
Golf is SO damn hard.
I've only played solo rounds so far. A really poor player mixed in a 4 ball with competent players gets embarrassing, so it's a bit awkward. But then I got an invite to play a Golf Society Day at Wollaton from a friend to play with 3 others, one is pretty good, 8 or 10 handicap I think, plus a couple of twenty-somethings, so time to take the plunge, & I decided to accept - only to find it's the very day I fly home from Vegas. FFS.

Oh yes, Vegas. I nearly forgot, someone should have reminded me.
The trip is much later this year. The work gig is July 29th until August 5th, then Sky have kindly given me an extra 3 days R & R, which takes me to the 8th, & I've added 5 more days "holiday", so fly home on Sunday 13th.
So that means the WSOP will be done & dusted, & with it all the "Summer Schedules" that go with it. So I can't really play much except the bowl stuff, $100/$200 dailies/weeklies etc at places like The Orleans & South Point. I'll play a fair bit of cash though, Limit 08, or Big O.
So no staking plans at the moment until I can get some visibility on what stuff is on post-WSOP. Am both grateful & amazed a few of you asked though. If I can put a little schedule together, I'll be sure to let you know.
Gill comes out 2nd/3rd, & stays until 12th/13th too. Will stay at Palazzo throughout, though we'll head out to the West Coast for a day or two, probably fly to LA & get the Amtrak down to San Diego, & stop off somewhere along the way.
Despite missing the WSOP & associated Series, I'm as excited as always. The Vegas diet is ahead of target, just need to lose a couple more lbs to get down to my fighting weight of 12st.
