Delighted for Raaby, well done him. His contribution to GUKPT was so immense, I fear for GUKPT. His replacement is key.

I never realised I was the first ever player to Bubble in a GUKPT, nothing changes, eh?

His reminiscing Post gave me so many incredible memories, though. I think GUKPT began just after blonde. GUKPT went thataway, & blonde went thisaway.....

Somehow, though, blonde survived, while GUKPT prospered, & Raaby get's every medal going for what he did there, & how he worked with, & aided, blonde, giving us Update access, & also my other hats - "Poker 425", "Poker Week", "In-Poker", & all the other Poker Magazine TV Shows I've managed to kill.

Thanks Raaby, & win the lot with 'Stars, now.

FIVE Brit Bracelets now - nice one Steve!

And back home, in territory more familiar to me & mine, well done AndrewT for binking the £3,200 (?) the other night in the televised SP Biggie.

It's just THE nicest & almost unique thing, and privilege, to be able to do a Live Commentary, on TV, of a friend winning a decent prize. "Decent", of course, is relative.

To many folks, £3,200 is a HUGE amount, to others, it's nothing.

It must be said, he killed that Tourney, absolutely owned it.

I see, time & time again, of SP (& almost all Sites, in fact), "the game there is laughably soft, they are all donkeys". And I think, "well if it is THAT soft (on whatever Site they refer to), then why don't you go there & murder the game?....."

He came sat at my Hi-Lo Table afterwards, it was only £0.10-£0.20, or 25p-50p, I can't recall which, but he arrived with the chatbox line "I've come to donk off £3,200, can you assist?".

It took less than an hour before we'd got nearly £1.80 off him.

I find H-Lo at that level SO relaxing, though trying to keep up with the chatbox replies is far & away the hardest, & most (only) stressful part of it. No pain, no gain, though, & it comes with the territory, job, & income, so can't complain. But its' just very tiring & stressful.  Whereas Hi-Lo is so relaxing. Nothing ever seems quite perfect. Which I'm ashamed to admit, as it's not  good quality to possess, I don't think.

There seems to be an outbreak of new & refreshing Diary style stuff. G2L, Fallen, etc. It can only be good.

For lots of reasons - not just the scandal of the last few weeks, it's far deeper than that - some fresh Forum angles are/were needed.

I think I read too many philosophy books, but disaster is often very short term, & as in nature, recovery is very fast. After oil spills all the greens go ballistic, but nature (almost) always repairs the damage incredibly fast, witness Torrey Canyon, Exxon Valdez, or any regular forest fire.

Read this - & compare the Media noise with the current BP thing.

I had never even HEARD of this one.

Incredible how the Media has changed, & almost wholly for the worse, & how gullible & susceptible everyone has become to media brainwashing.

Yesterday, we submitted the "blondepoker Web ltd" annual accounts - for the year ending June 2009, whoops.

Some technical problems delayed their completion, & those problems were not what you may think, it was just an awkward & almost insoluble problem arose, to delay their finalisation. To everyone involved, thank you for your help.

They were so late that we had gained a short delay from Companies House, until next Wednesday, failing which the Company was threatened with removal from the Register, & the Directors (just me, I think) would become "Disqualified Persons". (From holding Directorships).

Which, really, makes no real odds either way, but it was incredibly worrying to me. Keeping the financial CV clean is an obsession of mine, & I will do anything to avoid a stain on a lifetime "clean as a whistle". (Some may say "never been caught").

So a HUGE relief to finally put them to bed. I had to sign them all & then Post them to our Accountants in Brighton, but I was so freaked out by a possible delay, & it's conseuequnces, that I sent them down by Courier, gg £40, but well worth it.

The accounts say the loss for the 12 months (to June 2009) was £10k, up from £8k the previous year. I wish, jeez, if only.

Reality is far worse, as Flushy & I have lumped plenty more in, paying off this & that. Tighty has "donated" in so many ways, too.

Strangely (?), Flushy & I have never had a cross word about who puts what in, or how much. The cash-injections from us both probably reflect our % shareholdings, I think. The worry is not what he, I, or we, spent, for me, it's going forward, as I can't keep lobbing in random amounts of money forever, & my earning power will soon cease.

I guess it's not the biggest headache in the world, though.

Suddenly, doubt is cast upon new Diarist "Fallen".

What a shame if everyone is suddenly seen as potentially bad, or dodgy, or untrustworthy, all because of one bad apple.

Understandable, though.

I think I'd rather be made a fool of, than mistrust, for all the wrong reasons, someone who is genuine.

It's not like I'm in the habit of giving money to perfect strangers. And if I do, & I get it wrong (& I have, many times), well that's down to my bad judgement, & I'm accountable to myself alone.

I promised no more Warren Buffett waffle, but it fascinates me, so too bad. I'm bad at promises.

It was reported yesterday that he's purchased another huge block of Tesco shares, bringing his holding to 3% of Tesco, worth £950 million. He's now the fifth largest shareholder in Tesco.

The City Journos speculated that he decided to buy them bcause VAT on food was not imposed, & that he was mightily relieved that was the case.

Which just shows what a load of useless tossers City Journos are. They fail to do their research properly, have pride in their job, or know their arse from their elbow.

It's a Buffett fundamental to invest long-term. "Time is the friend of good companies, the enemy of bad".

He measure his investments in decades, not years or months.

His portfolio includes Companies in whom he invested 30 or more years back. Coca-Cola, American Express, WESCO, Wal-Mart, Washington Post, Bank of America, da de da.

Tesco is the ultimate defensive stock, too. Money will be tight, so basic & good value foodstuff will do well. People, as a general rule of thumb, mostly need to eat.

He re-invests dividend back into his Companies, too. He calls it his "financial compounding machine". It's like a printing press, printing £50 notes 24/7.

But I sympathise with his biggest problem. He has a mountain of cash, Everest-stylee, & not enough good places to invest it.

Mr Buffett expounded at great length on his theory that you get VERY rich by doing it VERY slowly, & not falling for "get-rick-quick-via-shortcuts".

His partner, Charlie Munger, was more into brevity. He'd just say "sod that".

N1 Neil, don't forget, skip the namby-pamby family stuff in SNOWBALL.

I enjoy Clarkson's musings, he writes incredibly well, using a spectacular range of adjectives. But it's toilet reading, & although it amuses me greatly, it does not challenge me, or anyone, I imagine. The beauty of the deeper stuff is that it sets you thinking, for day & days on end. Follwed by endless Diary Posts which bore the pants off everyone.
