I'm going to a posh charity-event meal in November. The dress code is 'lounge suits and cocktail dresses'. Not sure what a lounge suit is, but I'm sure I don't have a cocktail dress.

The one I normally wear for lounging around in? I guess it means not black-tie, and not a stuffy business suit. Probably also means a tie is optional?

I reckon tie will be expected. Think along the lines of the sort of thing you'd wear to a wedding if you weren't part of the wedding party.

Apparently a lounge suit is the same as a business suit. Or something...
Tie expected? Sigh.

A "lounge suit" is as opposed to a "dinner suit" so you won't need to borrow Tony's or rent one from Moss Bros.
Unless you don't have a suit that is...

lounge suit means normal suit for the first 2 pints then tie off. 2 pints after that jacket on back of chair and shirt untucked. another 2 pints later and it`s anything goes

The drilling has nearly reached the miners. This must be the most dangerous phase of the rescue.

Absolutely - fingers crossed.
Hordes of Press are at the mine head, & I often wonder what sort of story would best suit their ends. Lets hope it's a "everyone got out safely, & they all lived happily ever after".

If you had to name your top 5 favourite Artists/Bands without putting much thought into it who would it be ?

Oh God, I'll get mullered for this. How can I select from hundreds?
"Without giving much thought", because I'll forgot so many......
Here's a starter list, I'll cull it after a bit of thought. And add to it those I've forgotten. When I'm online at night, I have "You Tube" tracks of these on, pretty much.
The Beatles
The Cure
Lightning Seeds
Robbie
Blondie
Eminem
Johnny Cash
Scissor Sisters
Crash Test Dummies
Dire Straits
The Notting HilllBillies
Tom Petty
ELO
Cypress Hill
The Travelling Wlburys
No Doubt, or anything by Gwen, before she went all silly.
Aerosmith
Tenacious-D
The Red Hot Chilis
As to the 5 I'll end up with, well The Beatles will be in there for sure, for sheer breadth of enduring song-writing talent, & width of music, from simple stuff to quite deep stuff, most especially the lyrics. Probably Aerosmith, too.

Seen Eminem and Cypress Hill live, both very very good.I have to admit I'm surprised that you like them but people should never make those sort of ignorant judgements so shame on me
I'm a huge fan of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and if you ever want to talk about somebody who's had a crazy life Anthony Keidis would probably be up there with the craziest.Mark Knopfler is also some what of a legend tbf to him.You not a Bowie fan ?

His book, "Scar Tissue" I think, is quite magnificent, & I bestowed upon it the rare honour of reading it twice, it's so good.
I have a default loathing for drug abusers, &, bizarrely, a default love for those who somehow survive drug abuse, & get their lives back in order. Steven Tyler is another in the same mould - how on earth did he survive, & come out the other side still able to be special I'll never know.
Eminem? If you can decipher his lyrics, they really are very clever indeed. I loathe him, of course I do, but his lyrics & music have something quite special about them. I probably play Eminem tracks whilst driving more than almost any other. Johnny Cash might just shade him there I think - there's an odd mixture! Clever lyrics again, though.

Yeah I've got that book but haven't got round to reading it yet.
Eminem,I genuinely think is a lyrical genius and those who are ignorant enough to listen and think all he did was swear and curse etc are pretty dumb people imo.I'm not such a fan of his latter stuff but he's did what he had to do and gl to him.
