Glad that page cleared up things for me!

There's even a nice Euler diagram for Merenovice to appreciate.

As to MereNovice, he was without internet for nearly a month (gotta love AOL) but he's back on now, so I hope he'll be back here soon, he is much missed, certainly by me.

We exchange lengthy e-Mails several times per week (I'm bad at the brevity thing) & because he's old & grumpy, & such a pedant, every time China Mug updates his, err, Diary, I send Mere a link to it. It drives him apoplectic with pedant-rage, as you can imagine.

It's what friends are for, surely?

I had assumed that you did it so that I would become inured to creative grammar and, hence, would ignore your frequent howlers.

If anyone else wants me to add smart-arse attacks on their diary please just sign-up below.

good spot.  former should only be used as a noun imo.

I believe that you are right. I did hesitate when typing it and then chose the wrong option. I was distracted at the time but that is a poor excuse.

Which, for oblique reasons, reminds me that I heard a lovely saying on D-I-D on Sunday whilst motoring south from Leeds.

The subject was Molly Parkin - wow, what a tale she had to tell, what a life she has led!

Anyway, she had gone a little astray in her earlier life, with drunken & sexual debauchery & all sorts, & eventually she woke up in life's gutter (literally, too) realised what a mess her life was in, & sought help from Alchoholics Anonymous. (She's been on the wagon ever since).

Realising she had been a bad mum to her children, she asked her counsellors whether she should....

a) Ring up her children & apologise for being a bad Mum for so long.

b) Write to them in the same vein.

Nooooooooo!

She was advised that doing so would not mean a thing, because "love is a verb, not a noun". I suppose everyone knows that expression, but it was a new one on me, & I thought it rather profound.

PS - I have no idea who Molly Parkin is, I just know I've heard her name, but I need to go & Wiki her. "Wiki" is now a verb, obv. Wink

It seems Miss Parkin is a journo, painter, & one time TV personality, banned by the BBC at one time due to uttering profanities on TV. Ooh!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molly_Parkin

She even has her own website, here.....

http://www.mollyparkin.co.uk/

EDIT - After some thought, & the advice of extremely wise counsel, I've removed some stuff I quoted about Molly Parkin, & a Link, as it's probably not really quite right for blonde. If you want to read it, though, google is your friend.

So, moving swiftly on, I found a photograph of that Weir, at Luton Hoo, which I mentioned the other day. How beautiful is this?

I was mortified to hear that Seve passed away late last week, that's just too bad.

I decided I'd have to pay him a little tribute, write a nice piece about a man who gave so much pleasure to so many. The original "car-park" man, indeed.

My only negative as to Seve is that I wish he'd retired 5 years sooner than he did, as my wonderful memories of him are tainted by him trying to regain past greatness, but instead regularly shooting 75's & 80's, which was oh so painful to watch.

However, Tom wrote a beautiful mini-obit of Seve , & I cant do better than that, so I won't even try. It's here....

RIP Big Man.

I bumped into Sarah Champion yesterday. Oh my word, that's not good for the concentration, she's utterly splendid in every way.

She had tweeted at the weekend "must remember never to wear this dress again in windy weather". Quite so.

Anyway, we chatted for a bit, but I had to dash, & that was that - but she tweeted me a DM overnight, which I thought was rather sweet of her.

OK, off for some brekkie now (museli & fruit), then I want to write a poker piece for a change, then at 9am it's back into the Audio Booth for another long stretch, we did 3.5 shows yesterday & finished at 8pm, today we have 2.5 Shows to do (2 hours each), plus a bunch of topping & tailing, intros & outros.

Also today I need to try and...

Sort out some invoices - not raised a single invoice since January, so I'm way behind. Mariaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Decide what date to go to Vegas, so that Mother can book my flights & Hotel.

Reply to a fresh avalanche of PM's, both here & next door, including one very long one, which I really want to do properly.

Reply to lots of questions on the Diary which I have so far failed to do. My apologies.

Hey Tony. At sky do you ever come across a guy called Keith Arthur. In a previous life I was a semi professional match angler and he is very much in a similar mould to you. He presents a programme on sky called tight lines. He is  heavily involved with Barry hearns Matchroom and the fishomania competition they run. People only ever see the few hours of tv broadcasts and not the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.

Yes, I see him every week, when he records "Tight Lines", we usually bump into each other in Make-Up.

What an enthusiast!

He records his stuff in the Studio next to ours, & the "talkback" (the gallery feed in our ear) "leaks" from next door into my earpiece, & I get fixated by listening to his utter unbridled enthusiasm.

Listening/watching experts who have youthful enthusiasm is the best it gets, even if the subject matter holds little interest. (Witness Patrick Moore).

PS - Never knew you were once a tidy angler - ship me a link to your Hendon Mob Angling Profile, please.
