David Mitchell is great - possibly on telly a bit too much - but yes, I also put him in the Stephen Fry category. Plus he is the best thing about Peep Show, which is one of the best UK sitcoms in years.
Question for Camel - does he go on little 'angry at dissecting minor nuances of what someone just said' type rants in real life or is he a bit more relaxed?
Question for Tikay - why no love for Branson? I'm not fussed either way, but figured he would be on your list of man crushes for what he has achieved. Is it the beard?
I assume you have never tried to read or decipher Virgin Group Accounts Barry?
Brings a whole new meaning to "obfuscation".
The way he runs his businesses reminds me very much of Alan Maxwell.
He just strikes me, very strongly, as a wrong 'un. His eyes are very close together, too.

Never been a big fan of him on TV, but I reckon he is the hardest working man in showbiz, and he is hands down the greatest at dealing with hecklers, through sheer experience I think. Seen him live three times (Got tickets for him as presents three times, off the same people, despite saying I didn't like him) and watching him destroy hecklers was like watching Messi with a ball.
You may ask yourself why he has so many hecklers.....

It always amazes me that people don't realise comedians are putting on an act. That's not really what they are like. It's a massively exaggerated version of themselves.
That's not a sideways insult at Mr T Kay btw. Just a general comment.

There really does need to be more hours in every day, I could easily fill 48 hours every day with fun stuff.
Had a bit of a stressy Show on Tuesday, things did not go quite as hoped, fair to say, but we had a Post-Mortem, & from what I can tell, the viewers never noticed the specific problem.
The audience ratings have shot sky-high recently, but it's a job to understand what the trigger was. Still, a nice problem.
Upcoming Guests include the two Neils - Giblin & Channing. I think Mr Giblin will be excellent, & as for Neil C, well he's such a raconteur. I was with him recently, & I could have listened to his tales from his betting days all night. Sadly, they can't be repeated. He has had quite a life, suffice to say.
Yesterday & today have been choc-a-bloc with really interesting stuff which has landed on my desk. I might get the tin-tack, but I'm in no danger of being made redundant.
Have swerved the Diary for 48 hours, I prefer to answer questions & comments before writing new stuff, but I don't organise myself very well. Alex, Ray, & even Tom seem to do it so much better. But I've been relaxing in the evenings, just doing nothing, a complete novelty for me.
I'm having a ton of fun with the "Tikay Tips" thread. Probably invested 10 hours or more on that exercise, & not made a penny piece, but not lost any, either. Settle for that, a bit of buzz at no cost, though I need to be careful I don't get the bug again.
Then I did what was probably a daft thing, & got involved in the Solaris affair. Proper moment of madness, inexplicable. He clearly has some history, but there for the grace of God go I, there have been times when I have got in a bit over my head. He's a gambling addict for sure, but I'm not convinced he is anything worse than that.
Not sure I can recall a thread which flipped flopped so quickly, from hero to zero & back again to hero within less than 24 hours. Only on blonde.....
OK, better get some of the comments & questions answered, apologies for the delay. I'm also a bit behind with the PM's, ditto.
I tend to get in the office at around 6am, clear the facebook & twitter questions, update next door's forum, spend a bit of time here, then get on with the regular stuff. I was in a bit of a hole, so I set the alarm for 4am today, I was bursting with energy, & wanted to attack all my stuff. That went well, I overlaid, & never woke up until 6.30, & that sent my head into a spin & it has yet to recover. I really detest getting up any time after 6am, it sets me wrong for the rest of the day.
Ooh - another thing. I still have 593 pohotos from my new camera to upload. The clicks are so gonna soar.
PS - I could have saved all that Post & just said "life is rich in variety, but it's all good". May have been marginally more interesting, too.

Talking of
Alan
Robert Maxwell, & his various businesses, I was reminded of this lovely interview. It features
Fred
Joe Kinnear, one of life's more reserved characters.
SPOILER - contains a lot of bleeps.

The Forum "Diaries" fad has suddenly taken off next door, led by (or should that be "lead by"?) now-regular blonde & jolly good chap TommyD, who writes a splendid diary. Suddenly, there are 6 or 8 of them there.
The usual debate went off about whether diaries should have their own section, or energise/ruin the"General Poker" Board.
As usual, many cannot argue rationally or politely, shouting ftw, & so it all got a bit warm. So be it, been there, done that, bring it on.
This morning, it continued, not too bad really, with votes pretty much split, when suddenly, the entire "General Poker Chat" Board totally disappeared! Talk about conspiracy theories, facebook exploded with rumour & innuendo. It took 6 hours to "recover" it, & peace has been restored.
The culprit was a simple misclick, & for a while, I thought I may be to blame, as I have Admin rights there. Luckily, I never do misclucks.

That's easy. It's because his audience know that he does a good putdown.

Basketball corry reporting for duty (as I just busted the PLO at the Vic, 120 runners for the £100 PLO tonight, hope they get good numbers all weekend, think it's great they've put a PLO festival on, get yersel down there teeks).
The Knicks had an easy win two days ago, all the star players got plenty of rest coz the game was all over early doors, Jermey Lin still had 21 points and nine assists (I think off the top of my head) and seems to be cutting the turnovers and bedding in well now they have their whole team fit.
Big test tonight tho, the Knicks are playing in Miami, the best team in the league. Miami basically broke the bank last year to retain their superstar (Dqayne Wade) and sign two more (well, one and a half more) in Lebron James and Chris Bosh. They spent so much on those three, the rest of the roster is squad men, and as none of those three are point guards, Lin has a chance to shine, so long as the rest of his team can keep the big three quiet. Miami are nine points favourites with the bookies and the form they're in you wouldn't bet against them winning by more than that, will update later.
Saw Lord Channing earlier, we were both in a hurry....I got into the comp 40 mins late after politely waiting my time to get a word in to leave. He tells the best stories tho, attempted murders, armed robberies, and that's in the two days since I last spoke to him
