Thanks lads, I'll edit the previous Stakers list to include you both.
I'm not touting for business, btw, but if I don't update it whilst I remember, I'll get in a right mess.
How much for the % Boss?
Hi Dean,
Don't really know yet, not settled the schedule, but if you want to take a round sum - say, £$100 or £100 or whatever, that's fine, I'll create a spreadsheet with formulae & everything which will auto do the sums. Bit of a spreadsheet whizz, me.
Min 1 % please Boss

I seem to recall that you are a Danny Baker fan Lord Sir Tikay. If I'm right then I believe you'll enjoy his session with Richard Herring which can be downloaded via the link below.

I'm working my way through all the Richard Herring Leicester Square Podcasts, or RuHuLuSTuPu as the cool kids know them. Some are better/funnier than others but i'm enjoying them all. I'm staying in sequence and really looking forward to the last one which will be a Fist of Fun reunion

Thanks David, I'm listening now.
It's a little long for me - 74 minutes, but if it's interesting enough, I'll hang in I guess.
I might be doing my own podcasts soon (for Next Door, part of the job, not because I want to as such), & I had in mind making them much shorter.
I suppose the logic is different, but research strongly suggests that if doing You Tube Vids, you need to keep them, ideally, under 2 minutes. Short attention span & so many demands upon our time, it seems, are the reasons. I guess if they are interesting enough, they can be as long as we want, but when I open a You Tube vid, I snap close it if it exceeds 3 or 4 minutes. (Music excepted).

That Danny Baker podcast was excellent, really very good. I fast-forwarded past the hosts early waffle - he does nothing for me - but the rest was very entertaining.
The Buster Keaton story was the nuts, as was "in with the swim", "Chaz", & "playing the piano on the till".

In those early poker-games both in the casinos and spielers the dealer used to "call the table" every few rounds, which meant that each player in turn had to declare how much he was playing "behind" what he had in front of him.
So it might go table, £50 behind, £100 behind, table, £200 behind etc., and the man who's game it was would usually play "call or pass" meaning that he covered everyone.
It was not unusual at that time in the 1960's when the dealer called the table for one or more of the players to declare "Betty".
Great story Ralph, thanks.
Did you play in many of those dives? Must have seen a few angles pulled there. I've avoided most of that, except for Bob the Butcher's spieler in South East London, & a home game run by a Welsh gent of mutual acquaintance in Derby.
I played in virtually all of them in London during the decade from the late 1960's to the late 1970's but you must remember that many of "those dives" were actually small legitimate casinos which operated just after gambling was legalised.
The game of choice for many poker players at that time was 5-card stud played with a stripped deck consisting of just the sevens and higher and many if not most of the games were run by Cypriots, both Greek and Turkish.
There were countless angles pulled in those games and I certainly got whooshed at first by most of them being a somewhat callow youth at the time, but it was one hell of an education.
So Ralph, how's that diary coming along?
Yes - we got to Canada, as I recall, then it stopped.
Carry on.

You must have read my mind, whilst I was listening, I went looking for them on google.
Very kind of you to offer, but you know what I'm like with returning books, think I'd best pop up to Foyles. Nearly went this morning, funnily enough, but I'm all fatigued & flat right now.
Which is his latest?

How much for the % Boss?
Poker Total approx $15,000
Latte Total approx $25,000
Concrete Order $5,000
Random "punting" $5,000.
By my calculations 1% = $500
Concrete budget might be a bit misleading. Can't imagine he's going to get 5k worth of concrete in his case. Unless that's a euphemism for his trips to the Glitter Gulch. Not my field of expertise. Would imagine 5k is a relatively easy spend in some of those establishments, although I would imagine the ones downtown are a little cheaper, because everything else is down there.
Sounds like a fairly good diary, mind. Jeeves going?
Well she has offered, so all being well, yes.

FML.
There may have been 3 volumes.......
Might just go up to Foyles tomorrow morning. I'm due a visit, just finished my previous batch with the rather too heavy (for me) "The Quantam Story", which made as much sense to me as Baseball stats, but was most enjoyable, all the same.
Learned about - well, read about - quarks. There are 6 types of quark, with these unlikely names......
Up quark
Down quark
Top quark
Bottom quark
Strange quark
Charm quark
And for every one of those, there is an antiquark, too. Don't ask.
They only exist within something called a proton, (never any other way, they don't exist independently) & are glued together with gluons.
Can't make that stuff up, can you, but it's the basis of our world, & thats all that
matters
*
* Is that awesome punnage, or what?
Topically, CERN's Hadron Collidor re-opens in the next few days, to look for supersymmetry, to replace the standard model. WTF?

I'm trying to get caught up, (the harder I try, the more behind I seem to get), & reply - at length, I'm afraid - to Barry Carters Ch 861 Post. Been some week.
Will update the staking Posts first then try & get back to Barry's question. What a week, what a few months I've had. Up, down, top, bottom, strange & charm. Just like quarks really.

Thanks UKPC champ, you are BOOKED.
You spent all that dosh yet? The Danny Baker podcast majored on how he habitually "knocked it in" without a care in the world. Earn it, spend it. Not necessarily in that order.
