You caught a whopper.

Speaking of whoppers, I'm off to Burger King.

Couples that persist in holding hands even on a narrow pavement as people try to squeeze past them whilst not falling into a bus.

Let go of his/her fucking hand for 3 seconds ffs.
Aim to walk between the pair of them.

My curves won't permit that.

But I had a diet coke to supplement the meal.

BBC4 9pm tonight.....The nation's railway; The golden age of British rail.

It clashes with CBB though.

Who needs fiction, or those ridiculous Reality TV Shows, when 10 minutes a day scanning the news websites & newspapers throws up stories like this?

Perhaps even more surprisingly, did you realise that Jerry Hall is 59 years old? Or that Mr Murdoch is 84?

Thanks David, will take a look tomorrow.

Life is SO hectic at the moment, can't wait to get up in the morning, & never want to go to bed at night, but there's still not enough time to do all the stuff I want to.

I never finished the tales of Gill's running adventures. The next one is end of this month, up in London, a 10k "Cancer Charity" run in Central London, she's excited beyond words, it's her maiden "really big one".

She has all the kit now, too. Special GPS watch, about 5 sets of shorts & tops, luminous armbands (she jogs 6 miles most nights in the cold & dark), a Training Diary, every book ever published on running, it's lovely to see such enthusiasm.

And the market for running & jogging gear must be HUGE.

She pays about £100 for a pair of "special" trainers, & has......4 pairs, "just in case".

And get this, the chap in the running show shop in Kingston told her "you know, really, you should always replace these trainers after 500 miles". Amazing, the power of salesmanship. To be fair, getting proper shoes has cured her blister problem, so worth every penny really.

She has a lovely (in a way) photo of her crossing the finishing line in the Osterley 10k a few weeks ago, but it's on Facebook, which I don't use, so I can't copy it.  At the time, we thought she has missed her PB by over a minute, despite (?) me sort of running the last few hundred yards alongside her, to try & rev her up. She's SO close to tears.

As it happens, there was an error (by us) in how the times are done, that clock over the finish line is elapsed time since the first runners started, whereas she starts at the back, with what she calls the "slowies", so really, her time was much better than we thought.

I adore the enthusiasm.

Oops, sorry, don't know where that derail came from.

Am in a strange mood today, yesterday was quite a day for me, & I'm a bit all over the shop today.

Nice one,

All runners start their watches when they go through the start line, its 10k not 10k and a bit, Has it not tempted you to want to go out and do a bit?

FTW  park run, i know some of the gang on here do them  http://www.parkrun.org.uk/

Hi Steve,

Yes, but I was watching that big clock over the Finish Line, so could not see what her watch said, & in the "drama" of the moment, she forgot to stop her watch. I'm not sure if she started it when the hooter went, or when she crossed the Start Line.  She generally starts at the very back.

Those ParkRun people are amazing.

I was perusing the results of her last ParkRun thing at Bushy Park, & there were runners who have run that over 400 times. (It runs every Saturday). 400 times, incred.

The atmo at them is just so lovely, too.

Me? I'm in shocking shape right now, can't even walk upstairs without gasping for breath. I've piled on weight, too, & have been a bit unwell of late, mainly because of bad diet & lack of exercise.

It got so bad that on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, I went for a decent walk (about a mile) along the riverbank, to try & sort myself out. Normally, & I mean this, I bet I don't walk 200 yards in a week.

Then I had to miss yesterday, as I had to head up north at 5am, & never got home until midnight, so I'm a bit wrecked today, but I plan to re-start tomorrow, & then increase the distance daily.

I've had to start eating properly (dieting) again, too. Shares in Rennies have fallen 23%, I was getting through a pack a day. Rock stars get addicted to cocaine, I get addicted to Rennies. What a life.

I am pretty cynical person and when I bought running shoes they told me the 500 miles story, I was like yeah right.

As soon as I hit 500 miles in my last pair ( strava track this for me), I started to get real pains and aches in my legs. So after much nagging from the other half, I give in and get a new pair. Like magic no more aches and pains. The cushioning just goes in them after a while and the difference between bog standard trainers and running trainers is massive when running any distance. Huge business as you say especially with the boom in recreational running, parkrun had over 80000 people last week across the uk.

Mark, do you do any of the other parkruns around the world when on your travels?
