Level 3 complete.
This is playing crazy fast at the moment, a lot of players are "punting" to get a stack safe in the knowledge they can re-enter until the end of level 6.
And that explains why, amazingly, we have lost so many players already, 117 remain from 153. 36 busted in 3 levels, incred.
Anyway, another decent level, we have 22,000 from 15,000.
Might keep out of the firing line until late reg closes.

One great thing about live poker is the chips, especially if they are good quality clay or composite.
I fiddle and faff with them endlessly, and like to keep them nice and symmetrical, always in stacks of 5, 10 or 20, with the odds on top.
It's ridiciculous really, but it's endlessly satisfying to play with them, like a comfort cloth or stress ball. They make a great sound when riffled, too.
Live poker is the nuts.
Be even better if I could break my duck for the trip. Nought from 4 and counting, so far. Eek.

What a lovely room this is to play poker.
Well organised, good equipment, decent dealers, and when not much is going off we can watch 9 different sports on giant plasma screens.
Poker heaven, this. Be even heavenlier if we were not knocking it in like a good 'un.

Welcome to Vegas, Marky.
Please note this is a bok free zone.

Cheers
I start knocking it on Sunday, and will be headed stripway to register sometime this week.
Until then, it is indeed a bok free zone.
Ask Tommy the TD if they're going to be showing Royal Ascot at all

Level 4 complete, and the high attrition rate continues, with 54 of the 171 entrants now busto.
Slipped back a bit that level, but nothing much, we have 19,800 from 15,000 starting. Average is 21,923.
Blinds now 200-400, so 50 Bigs. That's ok.

Done a chunk when I flopped the middle straight in the blinds on a flop of 5-6-7.
Was pretty sure my 4-8-X-X was good, but I got bullied off. Thankfully he showed me 8-9, but I done 3,500 in the hand. Bugger.

Level 6 under way, 250-500.
Not a great level, but could have been worse I guess.
17,900.
One Asian chap has re-entered 5 times. So far.

How is Ralph , Tony ? Hopefully he's well. I last talked with him he was having the odd golf lesson or two , hopefully that worked out for him. I think I saw him from a distance at the golf club when I was over at Easter but he was too far away to speak to. I'll be in England all summer from 6th July so I'll make sure I meet up with him and hopefully we'll get to play a few holes .

Great stuff Simon.
Will reply later, am bit busy right now, but lovely to hear from you.
Am pretty sure Ralph will reply, too, as he asked about you this morning and mentioned golf. He is fine, by the way, looks well for a man of his age, I would love to look that well when I am his age.

Meanwhile, back at the coal face.......
I get in a raising war with bad aces and my man peels my last bet. We are both pot stuck by now.
It comes;
He shoves (stop and go?) and I obv call.
He shows the rather optimistic;
WTF?
Anyway, he can still hit his second pair, but it runs out nice and safe.
Not quite a full 2xUp, I covered him, but we are up to 32,500.
Oh yes.

Late reg closed during the break, and the final number of entries was 200, and the average stack 27,778.
Blinds now 300-600, and we have 33,400, which is about 55 Bigs. Can't complain at that.
Now the game starts properly.

My table just broke, which is a shame, as I knew where I was with them boys.
Anyway, it is what it is.
Down to 99 already, so just over half the field have gone.
