Incidently i made the exact same call in the £500 at walsall a while back and the board paired on the river losing me the pot and the tourny, second hand lol

"Rainbow-Man" is an oldie, slightly younger than me, maybe, but he was wearing a "Rainbow Casino" top - an original one, from the Rainbow's heyday, when it was the first UK Venue to hold proper Tourneys. I have not met him before, but I put him in a box straight away - old-school, solid, been round the block a few times, knows exactly what he's doing, not prone to daft plays. Nice man, too.

He limps UTG, I make it 900 with J-J, all Pass back to Rainbow, & he goes..err...ALL-IN. for 8k.

I need to think about this, but I pretty soon suss what the coup is. He has A-K. I'm as sure as sure can be, as sure as one can be. It's definitely probably A-K. So I'm ahead, & even if I lose, I still have 6k, which is about average.

And, of course - well you know what I do in this spot. And I did. And he showed me his A-K.

And therein lies my whole game, really. It ain't gonna change, either. "Fit for purpose" as they say.

Why did you think rainbow man had AK, he could just as easily have AA in that situation?
I pass JJ in the same situation against that player.

Just out of bed here - nearly 4.30pm! - after a really hectic, but thoroughly enjoyable week, my busiest week since the WSOP-E I think.

I'm off to DTD, for the £100, shortly, but I keep meaning to tell the story about SlowMo, referred to elsewhere, so I'm gonna try & do that first.

But I don't have time tonight to Post a lot more stuff I need to mention, so I'm putting a note here to remind myself.

No, I just fell in a heap. My internet failed at home, I've been mega-busy, & afterwards, I sort of fell asleep for two days, but I'm better now, full of the joys of spring, frisky, & raring to go. So I'll post the Slow-Mo story tonight. Oh no - I'm doing the Show. Tomorrow then - nope, in the Studio from 10am until 4pm. Thursday then. Before I go to the Broadway for the £500.

SlowMo cashed in tghe DTD £100 on Sunday night, by the way, & I was so pleased for him, as did, & ditto, bookiebasher. What a nice comp that is, with enough chips & time to mess about a bit.

My "crippling-hand" in that was quite interesting, a real difficult call, which I eventually made. World-Class, as Thewy would describe it. Like, World-Class bad.

I played the cash later, & was fortunate to get out of trouble after being £700 down, in a £2,200 Pot, which fell my way, but not before I'd done some serious sphincter aerobics. I flopped a beauty, but it was oh-so-vulnerable, & Matey Boy put me to the test big-time. Afterwards, he wondered why I'd taken so long to call - that's easy - £2.2k is a serious amount of mullah for a working lad. And, in truth, many will say it was an easy-auto-call - but it was actually a bad call I think.

We were playing 5 card Hi-Lo, & I'd been dealt    . Some lively pre-action followed, & three of us saw this flop.......

   

So, Top Set. But after I bet out, Matey Boy came over the top for £500 more...... I called (yes, shoulda pushed) & it got worse/better on the turn, as I picked up a flush draw, the money all went in, quickly this time, but I got it home safe & sound, lucky boy.

Amazingly, astonishingly, Matey Boy mucked on the end, so my A-6 Low was good, too, which I'd assumed was dead. (Though I lost a relatively small side-pot to a better low).

Never mind what Matey Boy had - maybe nothing, just trying to bully me off, never difficult that - but in hindsight, I think it was a bad call, even with top set. I'm pulling to half only really - or thought I was - & it's gotta be assumed he had some sort of low straight wrap. (Turn & River were both paint). I'm curious as to whether a good Omaha player woulda had to think so long & hard before Calling - or even Passing. I know it really exercised me.
