Taken from a moving car - as you can see - Corporate Jets, Winglets an all - lined up wingtip to wingtip at McCarron Airport. I counted over 100. On remarking this to Mr Helicopeter Pilot, he told me that during big Convention weeks, as many as 800 -
eight hundred
- corporate Jets come to Vegas.

Today, on Interstatre 5, Northbound, between Sahara & (?), I ran into the back of another car. I've never done that in 45 years of driving, & was devestated.
Not much damage, except to my pride & ego. I was lost, not concentrating fully - mind elsewhere - the nose-to-tail 40mph traffic jam stopped quickly, & I could not stop in time. My fault completely.
No excuses, I should have been able to stop, but the car never had Anti-lock braking, the wheels locked, & I just skidded gently into his arse. I was absolutely horrified with myself.
Other driver had no insurance, & it was not his car, & he insisted on waiting for the Police to arrive. We both rung them, but due to a misunderstanding, we were parked on the meridian strip for 3 hours, awaiting the Police. In 100f+ temperatures.
I felt so sorry for the lad, he did nothing wrong, & I ran into him, & now he's in all sorts of trouble. There were no raised voices or recriminations, I just shrugged my shoulders & apologized, & we shook hands like grown-ups.
His name was, unbelievably, Jacob Devilla-Houghtailing. Hispanic origin.
I was given a "citation" - equivelant to a Summons - a fixed-penalty job, for driving without due care, or whatever, & I have until October to pay it. I don't know how much it is, as the writing on the State of Nevada documentation is too small to read. The "Highway Patrol" man was terrific, with great people skills, & extremely polite & understanding.
Here's "my" damaged Dollar-Rent-A-Car Dodge Charger, rented by Sky for me, with stoved in drivers-side headlight. I also apologised to the Sky Suits. Boy, I was not best pleased with myself.

....and the damaged right rear fender - just a scratch really - of Mr Devilla-Houghtailing. I can't explain how upset I was with myself. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Blimey, you must have been up all night!
If you think that's good, then try these beauties, which are just beautifully written, & put my workaday dross to shame.
This is medium length, brilliant. Needs reading slowly, & with care, to best appreciate.

There are several more, & I mean no offence by omitting them, time is pressing on, it's nearly 3am here.
Oh, & there's one by "Rookie (Rodney) which sort of humourously appraises them all. I can't find it right now - he's a bit behind with updating it - but I'm sure a kind blonde will post the link for you.
Happy reading.

Well yes, but he's been a bit naughty, borrowed his Sister's car, not exactly street-legal, (we've all been there, now & then, surely?), & some English oaf has run into him, & his "problem" has come out on top. Through no fault of his own. Except, yes, I agree, he should have been insured.

So it would seem. The Copper seemed quite laid-back about it, & let the lad drive off afterwards.

Why did he insist on waiting for the police if had no insurance??
Well, I was a bit miffed about that, especially after 3 hoiurs, but it's complicated, and as I caused the problem in the first place, I could hardly argue or kick off.
He was only about 18, & rung his Sister, who's car it was. I could hear her giving him a right ear-bashing (in foreign, so I could not understand her words). Then he rung his Mum, rinse, repeat, but far worse. The lad was nearly in tears.
I could not comprehend why he insisted on waiting for the cops, under the circumstances, but it seems Sister & Mother had told him he must.
A Motor-Bike Highway Patrol stopped by after an hour (and another an hour later) but could not intevene, because they were, they said, "Henderson County" cops. I asked them if the Law required us to wait for the Police, as nobody was hurt. He said "only if either party wishes it".
I think the lad came from a good, solid, family, had erred, & they were teaching him a lesson.
A sad, sad, affair, & I feel very bad about it, & it sort of messed with my head out of all proportion to the minor damage.

It can't be possible for many of the rooms to have an external window, unless the rooms are only on the perimeter - & if so, in which case, what do they do with the rest of the "dead" space?
I stayed in the Luxor last year (don't recommend it btw
). Anyway, all the 'pyramid rooms' are built around the circumference of the building and have windows but on an angle.
the 'dead space' is taken up by the casino floor, and above that an 'atrium', with shops, resaurants etc (and, yes, a lot of empty space)
I also wouldn't recommend the lifts in there to anyone that gets seasick - there is one on each corner of the building and instead of travelling straight up and down it follows the line of the pyriamid. Again, I'm struggling to put this into words properly so will try to find an explanatory article.
from wikipedia:
Luxor Inclinator Elevator
In Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Luxor Hotel, is the Inclinator. The shape of this casino is a pyramid. Therefore, the elevator travels up the side of the pyramid at a 39 degree angle. Although people refer to this "inclined elevator" as an inclinator, this is incorrect. An inclinator is a stairlift developed by Inclinator Company of America many years ago. Therefore the Luxor installation is just Otis Elevator's version of a generic "Inclined Elevator".
