So I go & play some short-handed DC cash. I'm running as bad as a bad run can run, so I decide just £300, & that's that, & resolve to play ultra cautious.

Barely a hand passes before I get involved in a tidy Super-Stud hand, Heads-Up.

My hand is 9-9-7-6-5-4-3.

So, a straight to the 7 for the high, & a 7 low. Heads Up in Super-Stud I'll take that every day.

Matey Boy is showing an 8, & a 5. Bad low? Whatever, I'm happy to shovel the lot in, I'm pretty sure I'm scooping, but I'll get half at the very least.

On their backs, he shows a straight to the 8 - doh! Heads-Up in Super-Stud, & we both make a straight, & I'm a pip behind. Bugger. What's the chances of that?

But the low is mine. Or I thought it was.

He also has a 7 low - 7-6-5-4............2

"Chips".

Derek Fowlds was once a Professional footballer Tracey, so double marks not only for the look-a-likey but also the connection to Gazza.

Good try but Derek Fowlds was a close neighbour when I was very young and his mother and mine were is adjacent beds in hospital, resulting in Basil Brush's sidekick opening my school fete when I was 6. He gave me a kiss in front of the whole school and I was a celeb in my little infants class for weeks afterwards....lovely memories. BOOM BOOM.

We shared a Table last night with a young man who does, or used to, date Barry Hearn's daughter, (Eddie Hearn's sister).

"Ah, Hearn, the Boxing Promoter bloke, he got shot, yes?".

On 30 November, 1989 Frank Warren was shot outside the Broadway Theatre in Barking by an unknown assailant who was never caught. A .22 bullet from a Luger pistol missed his heart by an inch. The former boxer, Terry Marsh, who had become Warren's first world champion two years earlier, was accused of the shooting but acquitted by a jury. The shooting was allegedly motivated by money which Marsh never received.

Terry Marsh - there's a name from the past.   A soldier turned fireman turned boxer turned politician.  Had to retire (undefeated) from boxing due to epilepsy.

Once also went on hunger strike in prison and stripped naked and covered himself in baby oil so the guards wouldn't be able to grab hold of him to forcefeed him.

Not all there, was Terry...
