What I mean is they wouldn't allow cross-dressing, or a man to make himself up so that he looked like a woman, and they wouldn't allow two men to kiss or fondle each other in view of anyone else. Now I accept that that may not be right or fair, but, in general, that's the way it is
TBH, I'm not to keen on that either..in the same way that I don't like to see straight people kiss or fondle eachother in public.

sorry for another question Red, but with the answers you have already given it throws up others.
Would it be less accepted / worse for men to be gay with the male role being that of provider and protector or if a lady were to be a lesbian, with the role of women that seems to be to look after the men folk?
Both seem to have reasons why (un-manly and with such a big emphasis on ladies to marry)

Tom, when are you going to stop trying to losing weight and stick at a certain mark ? Does the missus prefer the slimmer Tom ?
I keep moving the goalposts. My first target was to get below 14st, and when I managed it I was so chuffed with myself that I decided to try for 13st 7lb. I'm almost there now. I think I might try for 13st. that way I will have a bit of leeway if I go on holiday or something
The benefits are amazing. I feel full of energy and I'm sleeping like a baby.
I had some clothes that have been too tight for me for years. Mrs Red (Who is an absolute miser) wouldn't let me throw them away. (I have underpants with holes where there should be no holes that she won't let me throw away)
Anyway, I tried those clothes on the other day, and they all fit me, (some are even baggy).
I went into a shop the other day and tried on two pairs of jeans, (Regular, not Comfort) and guess what? They fit. I bought both pairs on the spot.
It took me ages to get this diet going properly. I kept starting and then falling off the wagon. I really am going to try to keep the weight off this time, if only for the health benefits.
I managed to stop smoking a few years ago, and I've always liked exercise, but I've always struggled with eating a healthy diet. Basically, I'm just a pig. The more I eat, the more I want.
It's great to indulge yourself when you're young, but I'm at that age now where I am acutely aware that my time here is limited. I do my best to appreciate every day, and I desperately want to see as many more as I possible.
I used to take good health for granted, but now I see it as a great privilege. I'm going to do my best to maintain it for as long as I can.

I can honestly say that I have never known of a lesbian in the Gypsy community. Now I'm not so naive as to say they don't exist, just that I have never known of one.
I suspect that is because of the way our society works. It would be easy for lesbian women to to be lovers and spend time together in private without anyone realising why.

I'm finding this one better than bfGw, its more information of what seems the normal person and less sensationalism

There are a few decent documentaries out there. Not big box office though.

When other societies were out "Gay bashing" or sending homosexuals to prison, we were quietly ignoring them.
Looking back on it, that's such an inflammatory statement. I'm surprised that it didn't prompt a worse reaction. I can't believe that I was blind to the arrogance of it.
I think I was trying to say that, (As far as I knew) Gays were openly persecuted and criminalised by society in general, and it is only relatively recently that the laws changed to become protective rather than oppressive.
I sort of jumped to the conclusion that spending generations pretending Gays didn't exist (as long as they kept their heads down) was was preferable.
Last thread where one can have an adult 'argument' without resorting to insults. Thanks & gl with your work.

I love the questions. Gypsies have been deprived of a voice for so long. The opportunity to debate contentious issues without resorting to insults is a precious one, even if it is on a poker forum.
I have to admit though, the responsibility weighs heavily sometimes. I'm scared that I will do more harm than good.

When you're covering this much ground and trying to be as honest as you can there's just bound to be things that'll be said which are gonna get you a 'woah Tiger, think again' from someone

My Tomtom warns me when I am approaching a speed camera, but obviously it doesn't work when it is switched off.
I didn't want to have it switched on all the time, but i discovered a great compromise. I fitted it into the little change pocket in the console just in front of the gear stick, and left it perminently plugged in and switched on. but I selected the "Always turn off screen" option.
That way, the screen stayed off unless I tapped it. Even if I was navigating, it was voice only unless I tapped the screen. The really great part was, it would still wake up, switch the screen on and warn me if I approached a speed camera.
Then yesterday, the screen came on for no apparent reason and wouldn't go off again, even though it was still in "Always switch off screen" mode.
After a while, I noticed that it will close the screen if I unplug the power supply, but that kind of defeats the purpose.
I've tried pressing the re-set button, I've restored factory settings, I've plugged it into my computer and downloaded the updates, I've even tried switching it off and on.
Any ideas?
