Sorry, at least no need to imagine now!

Is it a gas fired boiler? Do you have 1 bar of pressure?

Yes. and yes.

I've also checked the regulator and the ignition spark, everything seems to be in order.

I suspect the thermocouple.

I had a horrible day yesterday. Everything I touched went wrong, and I came down with man-flu and cut my thumb into the bargain. Then, to top it off, I entered an online MTT where you get 3k starting chips, but 5k for the add on, and we had a power cut which lasted for precisely long enough to cover the add on period.

Bugger.

I don't usually document bad days in much detail because people think I'm complaining about how unfairly life is treating me, when in reality, nothing could be further from the truth. When I write about things going wrong, I'm not feeling sorry for myself, not in the slightest. I'm just documenting it, as I would any other event.

What is it with girls and Ugg boots?

They are the most unflattering, impractical, smelly creation ever to darken a female appendage.

Royal Variety Performance was brilliant. Why don't we have more variety shows instead of all those crap soaps?

All the acts were great, but you have to give credit to Mr Tony Bennet, still topping the bill at 85 years old.

Don't know if you saw it last night Red, but a Victorian Christmas on BBC2 was really interesting (and thankfully very little to do with Xmas) - they hand made 10000 bricks using the old brick kiln on the estate & also using the old clamp method. They also restored a Blacksmith's forge (using the bricks).

Think you'll get it on iPlayer.
