Some interesting stuff on here lately about people's perception of themselves as a time and motion study when cooking etc., I certainly do that as does anyone who's making more than a one-pot meal and wants items which have different cooking times to be nicely prepared.
I'm not quite sure where the fetteredness or otherwise of laxie's norks fit into the space-time continuum though..

Someone brought up dressing routines. I'm a chick. We have more layers of clothing than you. It's a curse. Luckily I went to summer camp so know how to deal with these issues.

It wasn't necessarily about cooking thought Ralph. I just used that as an example of how I have to try and find the best way of doing everything, be it cooking, getting undressed, shaving, choosing a toilet cubicle, removing a Landrover Gearbox or anything.
I wanted to know if everyone was like that, if it was a man thing, or if it was just me.
Cooking apart, I think it's just me and Techno at the moment.

I don't know. It's an American thing, but I've always thought it sounds wonderful.

Definitely some of the best times of my youth. I stopped being a camper and worked there as a cabin councillor and swimming instructor once I turned 16. Was a sad time having to pack it in once real life hit. They're still going strong and I visit their website now and then to reminisce. Those were the days....

So you know how the cells in your body renew themselves as they age?
Well I wonder if that happens to brain cells, and if it does, what happens to the information they contain, and if it doesn't happen to brain cells, why not?

I understand that brain cells do NOT renew, possibly the only cells not to. I have no idea why.

I'm the same; I suspect those who are like that are mostly blokes, but possibly not all.
Socks before trousers, or you have to hike your trouser legs up a bit to pull them up, which is inefficient. Shirt before trousers if being tucked in, or after trousers if not. Have a great system for filling the dishwasher, which I've attempted to explain to the wife, but it just doesn't work. Before I go to bed I spend 5 minutes preparing stuff for the next morning. I also do the weekly food shopping, as I take about 1/3 the time she would, and generally end up with the right things.
I'm a compulsive organiser. Me and 3 friends are off to Vegas in 2 days (thin, but yay!). I've done absolutely every last bit of organising (flights, hotels, reminders for ESTA, insurance, cash, etc etc). Last week we had a discussion on hiring a car for a day. Within 2 hours of getting back I'd investigated every possible option and fired off an email explaining the pros and cons of each. Got three mails back "yeah, go for it". Sigh.

It's weird but as a Planner in my job I organise whole networks, write work instructions, upgrade procedures etc but outside my job I'm very disorganised & most things are last-minute seat of the pants jobs. I'm usually quite thorough with travel arrangements though (having spent too long in airports/train stations/ferry terminals due to cockups in the past) but the rest? Ach it'll sort itself out.... Even cooking, I'm a crap baker and I think that's due to baking requiring an organised starting point, you're utilising certain chemical reactions & have to get the right mix in order for them to happen. Other types of cooking allow you to wing it more, and I do better at them.

Oh I'm crap at organisation if it involves paperwork, you know, like making bookings, updating my work diary keeping my accounts etc, but I'm great at researching things, especially if I'm going to buy something.
It's a mistake to send me food shopping.
