On the cleaning point; the cups get cleaned with detergent once a day by the, errrr, cleaner. I'm the only who bothers even rinsing the cups between rounds other than that. Why do you think it needs something other than water to get them clean? It's a little light staining from one or two cups of tea not dirt per se. Each person uses the same cup every time so germs aren't an issue.

your use of the word scrub led me to believe that there was some serious cleaning involved/needed

Apologies. Somewhere between a wipe and a scrub is what's required.

I am currently having a running debate with myself over brushing my teeth. I currently get up and brush them before having a shower then I eat but think I should wait until after I eat before cleaning them. However, I hate how unclean my mouth feels when I wake up so don't like waiting to do it, might just do it before and after.

tom, I'm not convinced you're brewing your tea long enough though it's difficult to tell from what you've written

jack, never, ever make me a cup of tea. thanks

dawn, what world do you live in where people steal bags from toilet cubicles?

Used to happen all the time to people in New York.  Not happened on this side of the planet to be fair, but the habit's still there.

I guard against all sorts of things. Pickpockets, muggers, assassins, homicidal maniacs, jealous husbands, poisonous snakes and insects, salmonella, beriberi, diphtheria, changi balls...  The list is endless.

You can't be too careful.

And while I'm thinking of it...what's your routine for cleaning teeth?

Wet or dry for toothbrush?  Wet or dry for paste?  And if you wet at any point, what point do you do yer wetting?

I use a dry toothbrush, put paste on, then run lot under tap to wet before brushing.

Cold water, tap trickling. (The hight of decadence).

Wet brush, add toothpaste.

Clean smiling teeth first, then work my way around everywhere else, including bite surfaces and tongue.

Rinse, spit, rinse brush, bang brush on edge of sink to remove surplus water.

Do test-smile in mirror, occasionally adding wink.

Any flossing? Just bought some things that look like mini bow saws which seemed perfect for the job. That was until one got stuck and because floss was fixed at either end it ended up hanging there til I found a razor blade to cut the floss Smiley

TBH I don't floss often unless I have something stuck in my teeth.

I do occasionally use an electric toothbrush that is so vicious it makes your vision blurred.

I like to floss but my teeth are too close together and the floss often gets stuck and sometimes sawn through.

Incredible day on the Diary that focuses on issues of global importance.

How to fry an egg, make a cup of tea, wash a cup, shave, clean teeth, what toilet cubicle to occupy, where to place one's handbag mid-ablutions.

I half expect, upon my next visit to this diary of epic experiences, to see the matter of toilet tissue addressed post bowel evacuation. How many sheets, left hand, right hand, or ( a rarity I gather) ambidextrous.

It may be a while before I am able to return, I have exclusive bird, duck, and geese photos to upload, not to mention the front, middle, and rear ends of a 737-800.

As you were.

Eclectic,  I'll grant you that. From cleaning teeth to tsunami in one post.

Eclectic is good.

The only toilet related matter of any importance that was missed out is toilet paper hanging in front or behind.

The answer is of course in front.

I'm afraid I must take issue.

Hanging in front presses the roll into the wall, causing premature snappage. Hanging behind pulls roll clear of wall and promotes free spinning.

what type of holder are you using that pushes the roll into the wall?

This type. The roll doesn't actually push in to the wall as it does with wire stylee holders, but the cardboard tube still has enough play to allow the roll to press into the back of the holder.
