Just glanced out of the kitchen window and the feeders were full (well five!!) of Goldfinches, young and old.

That's a juvenile on the branch, the other four appear to be adults. For a few days we've seen two adults with two young'uns, but today I've only seen the one. :-(

Buzzards are now most common bird of prey in the UK, which i find to be an amazing fact given that they were something of a rarity in many parts of England when i were a wee lad. Red Kites are growing hugely in populations and yes oxfordshire is a real hub. See them in their 20-30 strong groups around there just off the motorway on way to Bicester. if you feed them they will come!

So I was thinking about football (Yeah, I know) when it occurred to me, wouldn't it be great if instead of a set time period, they played best of five goals?

How would we bet on draws though? Think of those punters, please.

I fished this bird out of the paddling pool and placed him here for his wings to dry off.

Mentioned to the wife to give me a shout if she sees our sparrow hawk. Turns out she has a picture of it sat on the same spot on the fence but the quality is very poor.
Just heard a commotion in the garden and the sparrow hawk had a dove. Wife saw it and I was too slow fml
Can you do anything with this Tom

Middle of bottom picture on the same panel as the dove is I think it's our resident sparrow hawk. Wife took it on I phone. She/He caught a dove tonight but instead of eating it on our lawn two blackbirds caused it to fly off with the dove. Catherine saw it all

I know you had a passing interest in Thomas Cook recently Tom, so I thought this may interest you.

It's actually a GOOD sign, though personally I'm still extremely bearish on them.

Your Diary had slipped to Page 2. I'm not having that.

It seems my "disability" affects my ability to "bird watch".
Sunday afternoon I spent much of the afternoon going through the Internet looking for the red winged bird that was destroying my mixed feeder for hours.
After a couple of hours searching it became clear that I was dealing with a non indigenous species and excitement grew only for it to be destroyed by the good lady wife when she pointed out that the bird in question was in fact green . . . . sigh.
I can confirm I have lots of Goldfinch's and Blue tits though.

Right.
After almost a fortnight of perpetual motion, I've finally ground to a halt.
Everyone has buggered off somewhere, so while it's just me, the dog and the computer I'll try to update my diary. Don't expect too much though, I can't compete with some of the excellent pennage on here at the moment.
An Ape and a notebook:
(Insane writing hedge)
Everyone has one so why not:
Mondo is so savvy and yet so innocent at the same time. It's like a soap opera. You just have to see the next episode.
Posh boy:
So young, so bright, so accomplished, so loved up.. I'm so fkin jealous I could scream.
tikay's blog:
Excellent, and far outshines the drivel he posts on his diary.
Team_Eureka's Vegas Escapades:
What can I say? Just immense! Absolute must read. Dead cert BOB ainec.
Jeeves:
Simply top draw. Pure class. So good it made my feeble efforts seem hopeless by comparison.
Vinny's diary:
When your confidence is low and you think your the world's worst writer, this is the place to go for inspiration.
Anyway, on we go....
Apologies if the Chronology is a little hit & miss. At my age time becomes a blur punctuated by unplanned sleeps & bodily functions. Sometimes these events occur simultaneously.
