Good luck today Tom!

Thanks Rich. I'm as nervous as a schoolgirl on her first date.

Mind you, from what I've seen of schoolgirls these days....

When we first moved here I threw a few random paving slabs on to the grass and they became our path for the next 14 years. During that time, I've been constantly promising to do a proper job 'when I get around to it'.

Well that bird has finally come home to roost. SWMBO Won't let me procrastinate any longer. I've bought the ingredients and made a tentative start.

Goodbye clean nails and supple back.

I rather liked the existing (not any more) paving Tom, it had a sort of rustic lack of symmetry, & nice rounded/worn edges which I think worked perfectly in your set-up.

Put them back, imo, & ignore Mrs Red.

PS - cracking photo of the woodpecker.

I've been lurking in and around a few diaries on here for a while now, good job with this one sir.  Thought you may appreciate this picture of a red kite taken with my iPhone whilst ploughing the other day, not the best of quality photo, but it was nice to see such a magnificent bird

Wow! That's a fabulous shot with an iPhone.

Red kites were really in decline a few years ago but they have made a good comeback. Chirp and a chair as they say.

I managed to get a pic of one once, but mine was miles from away. I posted it on here. I'll dig it out if I can.

I'm currently on a bit if a poker bender. I played the UKIPT on Thursday, then I went to my mam's on Friday, then on Friday night I played date 1a of the 25/25 at the Grosvenor in Leeds.

By level 6 I had ~ 40 bigs when I called a serial shover's umpteenth all in with JJ. He rocked up with QQ.

A hand later I ran my pair into his flush draw and I am as on the rail.

It was too early to hit the Fiat hotel so I wandered over to where the cash games were. Both were 50/1 NLHE and they looked lively to say the least...

There was one seat open on each table. I chose the one that allowed me to sit with my back to the wall,  facing the room.

First hand I call a bet with 34c. We are contesting a £I30 pot when call his river bet with my busted flush 5th st wheel. I wait for him to show. He flips the higher straight and I pass my cards face down. Then I realise that his 57 doesn't give him the higher straight and make a desperate, but futile grab for the dealers hand as it approaches the muck.

The rest of the players, realising what has happened, regard me with renewed, and, it seems to me, predatory interest.

The nearest one shakes my hand. "Welcome to the table".

It turned out to be a really soft table. When I cashed out at 6am I was showing a healthy £12.50 profit.

I staggered to my bed in the camper and slept like a log until 7am. Perfect preparation for day 1b of the 25/25.

I just found this which I'd never heard about before:

I'd imagine there a few of yours amongst them too.

There are loads of Holocaust stories like this Ralph. Countless acts of selfless heroism by extraordinary ordinary people who risked everything to save the lives of strangers.

They have released a few red kites in the local area, mainly Skipwith common as far as I'm aware, although I took that out near market weighton, I've seen a few in recent years, but mainly in August/September when they're in the open more, usually hunting small rodents in stubble fields.  Good luck today, we may meet later as I'm hoping to get across to Leeds for some cash later on.

Been doing some work in the garden too Red. But, according to the wife, I haven't put enough effort into laying the new patio.

Managed to get a quick snap of Tony at DTD this afternoon.

He's looking so well these days.

Big sigh.

Photographed both these rabbits from my window this morning. The first one is healthy, the second is in the early stages of myxomatosis.

What a truly dreadful disease it is.
